Good news.

Post Offices across the UK have reported a 15 per cent year-on-year increase in personal cash withdrawals for February.

It comes as the Post Office rolls outs Banking Hubs in communities which has led postmasters to declare that “there’s no way that cash is dying out”.

Keep it going folks. Cut down on your card use, stop using your phone app. Stop giving them your data. Get cash out and spend that instead. Every little helps.

  1. Yes, I agree. However the queue was outside the door at my local post office in Babington Lane in Derby. It has now become a bank as well. I only wanted some stamps for my Easter cards. So I went home and printed the label postage instead. Not enough staff plus the machines that you used to be able to use are not used any more. You used to be able to pass parcels over the counter if you had already put the postage on too. We get our parcels picked up at our door now. That is a good service.

    1. Sometimes it's inevitable that we have to move forward when things change. It depends on your circumstances. I know I am going to miss out on some things which require electronic payment. That's for me to decide. If you have found a good system to send your parcels, go for it.

  2. I am within easy walking of 4 post offices and have been withdrawing cash through them for some years mainly because I can then ask for coins rather than notes which is great for parking or casual farm gate purchases like eggs or veg.

    1. Hopefully if we stick with it, Jacquie, more people will realise that we must keep using cash. Charities are wanting people to sign up for a direct and are turning away from the cash donations that they could receive.

    1. I wish we could go back to the days where everything was bought with cash. It was so easy.
