Relief, it's finished.

 Good evening.

That's a relief, the woolly artwork is finished. It seemed to go on for a long time, because I am easily distracted. The construction was rather complex. I had to go one step at a time. I don't use glue so everything had to be stitched on. First the circles onto a piece of gauze. Then trim the edges so that it wouldn't show when I stitched it onto the black felt.

Once I had stretched the felt over the board, and laced it at the back, I had to put some stitches right through the whole thing from back to front, so once it was hanging vertical it wouldn't sag with the weight of it. It is 21.5 inches by 16.5 inches.

It's been a bit dull today to photograph it. I find the kitchen floor works quite well because light comes in through two windows.

The colours look better on the photograph I did in the porch.
I put an extra strip of board across where I was going to screw in the wire. The back is completely enclosed, with tiny stitches around the edge.
Only one more job left to do. Go over it all with sellotape to remove the cat hairs.

Well that's a relief. I am pleased with it. It has turned out just as imagined it. Now I can move on to the next project.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. It looks fantastic! That stitching must have taken forever. Now on to something else.

    1. I had to keep putting it to one side and going back to it. I think the next project will be a lot smaller.

    1. I wonder what motivates people to come back to my blog over several years just to throw mud at me. They must have serious mental disorders to do that.

    1. I usually do ignore them. I let this one through to illustrate how mental health is on the decline.

  4. Great to see the finished piece and I've really enjoyed seeing this come together. I also wonder what motivates people to leave negative comments. Some of them clearly do need help,

    1. They do, but for some I fear it is too late. Let them wallow in misery.

  5. Such a lot of creative work, but oh so beautiful and magnificent, Ilona. Well done. I look forward to seeing your next project. As a person who is deficit in all things of a craft-y nature, I am always in awe of your imaginative pieces. Thanks for sharing them with us.

    1. Thank you Margaret. Everyone has a talent for something. Even trolls are good at being arseholes.

    2. The trolls need to get a life. If they channeled their negative emotions into doing something good, and practicing the Golden Rule, they'd be a lot happier. I guess these people don't understand the concept. Margaret in Canada

  7. It's a totally unique piece of art and most of us understand just how much work has gone into making it! Everyone likes different things but that does not give you the right to trash someone's work because you don't like it. I think it is absolutely amazing and I have never seen that technique before. It's good to learn different things. It stops the brain rot! 😅
