The day after the Summer Fair

Good morning. It was a scorcher yesterday. Our village event was a laid back affair. People came together for a natter, on the village green. There were no disasters, nothing exciting happened, it was just good old fashioned community spirit.
The tea tent was a magnet as usual. It was very hot so sit down and relax was the order of the day.
Enjoy the harmonies from the ladies choir.

Family picnics on the grass.

The children and parents were on a mission to raise funds for their football teams.
I set my stall out next to Janet and Sue. They raise funds for our local Cat Rescue. I have passed my sales onto them, and have to say I didn't do very well. It is a small village event, with not enough footfall to make mega bucks. They did ok though, people like having a go on their tombola.

One last photo before we start packing up. It officially opens at 12.30pm, and people start drifting away at about 3pm, then it closes at 4pm. Then there is the arduous task of lugging things back home and putting it all away.
Every year the Summer Fair shrinks. Trade and charity stands come and go hoping to make a few quid. They try it once, or twice, then they don't come back. Something else to consider is that there are a lot of other events every weekend in June. To compete with bigger events means new ideas have to be implemented to freshen things up.
It is convenient for me because I can walk there. It's an opportunity to meet up with people that I normally see when I dog walk, and to meet friends from the Monday and Wednesday coffee mornings that I go to. Everyone is familiar with seeing me constantly walking. Some even say, I haven't seen you much just lately, are you still walking. I tell them I might  drive out somewhere else and walk in a different place.
Sunday morning and the sun is shining. I hope you are having a good weekend. I shall potter about here, got to keep tidying the garden so it doesn't become a jungle. After lunch I might go out, but if it is too hot I will sit in the shade and do a bit of stitching.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

Random thoughts about this and that

Good evening. Have you had a nice day? It's been warm, breezy, and dry here. I've had a line of washing out to dry. My lunch today was a chopped up avocado pear, two chopped raw mushrooms, drizzled with toasted sesame seed oil, and an egg on the top. It was bloomin lovely.
This afternoon I had a trip to town, to say hello to Nikki at the arts Centre. I got chatting to another lady who works there and found that we have a lot in common. It was amazing, like we were best friends though I haven't seen her before. Funny how that happens.
There were extra traders in town, with their stalls set up in the High street. A bit like a continental style market. I took a few sneaky photo's.

£7 for a sausage, bloomin heck!
I haven't been to town for ages, no need to go to the shops there. This type of shop seems to be everywhere now. Selling junk food, junk drinks, and products that poison your lungs.
Some of the stalls were very colourful.

If you come to our town you must follow the rules as set out by North Lincs Council. Behave yourself or you will get nicked.

Here is a video that I recorded yesterday.
It's our village Summer Fair tomorrow and I will be having a stall next to Janet and Sue for the cat rescue. I hope to sell some of my hand made arts and crafts.
Thanks for popping in. Have a good weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

Scammed by your neighbour. (EDITED)

This is why I won't pay for parking, except to put a few coins into a machine.
This is why I won't have a smart phone/iphone hand held gadget.
This is why I have a basic Nokia and top up the card with cash at Tesco.
This is why I don't want to be connected to the internet 24/7
This is why I don't bank online.
This is why I never order goods online.
This is why I won't sell my art online.
This is why I ignore all online advertisements.
This is why I don't make any charitable donations online.
This is why I won't monetise my blog or my yoootooob channel.
To all those people who say a bank card, a phone loaded with apps, makes life so easy. You do it your way, and I will watch when it all comes crashing down.
Be careful.

Another one along similar lines has just been posted from ITV News.

Hundreds of fake companies. Thousands of scams. An estimated billion euros swindled. But just one entity apparently behind it all. ITV News has helped uncover a global scamming network - targeting victims around the world - which appears to use ordinary suburban homes across the UK to hide their operation.

The boss speaks.

Does this man know what he is doing? Answer . . . . yes.

He is on a mission, as are the other western world leaders. They are all going in the same direction. It is a contest about who will get to the ultimate utopian dream of Globalisation first. Starmer wants to be top dog, he is desperate to lead the world, desperate to be seen as the leader with all the answers. He will grovel, bow, and whimper his way through his term in office, because he thinks that will get him the results he craves.

His team will support him by spewing out grovelling tweets on X. Because that's what they are paid to do. If you follow social media, that's independent citizen journalists, there is a different picture. We will see how long his term of office actually lasts. He should be looking after the best interests of the British people, he is not.

More opportunities. More money in your pocket. This is how many jobs have been created since July

Keir Starmer
In an era of global uncertainty, we can no longer take peace for granted. My government is investing in our national security by purchasing 12 new F-35A fighter jets, supporting thousands of high-skilled jobs and opportunities for working people. Secure at home, strong abroad.

And so says him. Always find money for war, but can't/will not, stop a few boats.

Keep it coming Mr Starmer. Bullshit is arriving by the bucket loads.

I promised to recruit more mental health workers. I have. Less than a year in, we're already 79% of the way to our target, with 6,700 recruited since July. And we're making it easier for patients to access support as part of our 10 Year Health Plan.

My thoughts on this Friday morning.
