Hard slog

Article in the Daily Mail.  (MSN)

Some 42% of over-65s live in a home that is 'larger than they need' Zoopla says this equates to 2.6m homes that could be used by younger families. Nine in ten over 65s have at least one spare bedroom and half have two or more.

Who has decided what size house I need? When I left home I started off in rented flats and bedsits, one bedroom, a living room/kitchen, and a bathroom. The first house I bought was in the middle of a terrace, with a long garden, in a nice area on the outskirts of town. It had two bedrooms. My second house was a semi detached and had three bedrooms. The house I am in now also has three bedrooms.

So, the question is, who knows what I need? I will be the judge, no one else. It is not my fault that there are not enough houses, flats, hostels, and accommodation, for all those who don't have a roof over their heads.

The Government blames everyone else except themselves. They invite people to come in. Their incompetence could be put down to blundering mistakes, but no, their plan is in full swing. They know what they are doing.

'Boomers', what a ridiculous term. Most people I know have worked bloody hard to get where they are now. Paying a mortgage for 36 years has been a long hard slog. I will stay in my house for as long as I choose to.

Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

Remembering the blisters

Good morning. I put this out yesterday. 20 minutes long so grab a cuppa before you sit down to watch. A few stories about the pain and triumph of long distance walking.
Off to Coffee Morning now. Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

Still standing.

The wind had dried the lawn out enough to mow it today. Filled two bins, most of it was leaves from the Silver Birch trees in the next garden. The wind is still howling now. I am hopeful that the summer house is sturdy enough to stand up to this. I think we have had far worse weather in the past, so it should be alright. I have put an extra ratchet strap across the roof . One of my golden balls has dropped off. I have binned it because it had lost it's shine.

The soft pots are now taking shelter underneath a table . They were getting too much rain. I've put them on mesh so they can dry off a bit. Still looking like they will survive.

I'm going to take a walk outside, just to see how the rest of the village is coping with the wind.

Craft show at Lincoln

I needed to go out today. My daily routines are getting a bit samey. Get up at sevenish, feed the cats, coffee, breakfast, check the computer, what's going on, lunch, sewing, go for a walk if weather permits, more sewing if it is wet outside.
Today I went to the Lincolnshire Showground to the Craft Fair. Took a drink and a cheese sandwich. I went to this event a year ago, and recognised some of the stall holders. I never stopped chatting the whole time I was there.
I see that last year there was also a Vintage Show on at the same time. Only crafts this year, so it was a lot smaller. Looking at the photo's from last year a lot of traders weren't there this year. I didn't take photo's of the stands this time.

This was a welcome sight. I told them they shouldn't be apologising for only accepting cash. They should be proud to announce that they only accept cash.
I wondered if anyone else had similar notices up. This was where I spent my cash.

No, not sorry. Well done.

My treat for me today. Sorry the photographs aren't too good. Would be better in natural daylight. It was dark when I got home. Small wooden pieces painted like houses and assembled on a board, for hanging on the wall. So cute and colourful.

Now I am relaxing with a glass of cider.

Crafty Club in the morning. Bye for now. Toodle pip.   ilona
