Playing with my new toy

I've had a little play with the new machine. I like the way I can set the speed with the slidey thing on the front. The bobbin goes in from the top and has a little window so I can see when the cotton is about to run out. I can use the foot pedal or press a button to stop and go. I need to study the instruction book.
The cover I made for the last one fits it. It's got a hard cover for transportation.

What did I make to test the machine? Yes, a shopping bag, something nice and easy.

Tonight I went to the sewing shop for a two hour workshop on embroidery. I learnt three new stitches, it was fun. Off to bed now, I will take the instruction book with me, it will surely send me off to sleep.  ilona

  7. There are also some good videos online where different people use the machines to show specific functions. I found these really helpful because I could pause and try on my machine. Enjoy experimenting with your early birthday gift.

  8. Love your new sewing machine Ilona, hope you enjoy using it. I have a Toyota that I've had at least 20 years and still going strong. It was £200 at the time which was a lot of money so it doesn't owe me much now. Love your colourful cover too.

  10. Congratulations on your lovely new machine, the cover is just beautiful and will be good dust protection. My machine mechanic is second generation so really knows it all, he said a cover will keep the dust particles out and a pad underneath will stop any vibration from altering the timing mechanism. The more care you take, the less frequent you need it serviced.
Hope your new toy brings you hours of fun and creativity. Utube can help you learn to make just about anything.

  11. Nice new machine for you! I hear those are good. I have a used Bernina I bought years ago. I call it my $100 mending machine. I mended and sew hems...on jeans with it. Have used it for making a couple quilts too. Need to finish the quilt I'm making for my granddaughter's birthday this May. Nice cover and new shopping bag! Have a good week and enjoy your new machine!
