Good morning. I was out yesterday, took the scenic route through villages, destination Howden. I could have taken the A roads and motorways to get there, but I fancied a more leisurely drive along country lanes. An art exhibition was advertised, worth a look I thought.
On the corner of a junction in Garthorpe sits this pub. Like so many others it's a reminder that pub life is on the decline. Some villages manage to keep theirs going by repurposing the building, turning it into a post office, shop, and community centre. It takes a lot of entrepreneurial spirit and deep pockets to do that. There are no 'for sale' or 'to let' signs on the Bay Horse, so who's to say what will happen to it.
A locked gate prevents one from having a nosey around the back. It once had a massive pub garden so possibly the land will be sold off as a building plot. In contrast, opposite is a very modern version of a country cottage, which has been extended and prettied up to extremes. Many of it's features reminiscent of George Clarks Amazing Spaces. Thank goodness for Amazon. They can deliver anything. 😎😜😉
Anyway, that's all I have time for now. Getting ready for Crafty Club. I've a video to check and upload, and more photo's to come from my visit to Howden yesterday. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
