Failed.

Good morning. Six months have gone by since we started the walking challenge. Walk 1000 miles in one year. How are you all doing? Time to check in here.
I have a confession to make, I have failed to reach the 500 mile target. Oh chuffin heck. How did that happen.
There are only so many hours in a day, only seven days in a week, and only 12 months in a year. Working out how I'm going to allocate time to all that I want to do is becoming more difficult. I know, excuses excuses.
I am 50 miles short at the moment. How am I going to make that up? Well there is only one way, I have to up my game. I have to rejig my priorities. There is pressure on me now to increase my miles to absorb the shortfall. Will I do it, I don't know, but I will try.
Here is a sunset pic from the archive.
Walkers check in here. Are you ahead of the game, or are you lagging behind?

Thanks for popping in. Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

    1. This is a bogus comment, basically a lie. People are trying to derail our challenge, but we will win.

  2. Hello Ilona and fellow walkers,
Though not aiming for 1000 kilometers in 2024 I am slowly getting close to the half-term 500 km. with 87 done in June making my total of 429 so far.
Very happy with that and feeling lucky too.
    Cheers,
    Jeanneke.

  3. Despite foot surgery and being out of town for a few days, I managed to log in 76 miles in June. That brings my year-to-date total to 456. I don't have a specific yearly goal in mind.....but it would be nice to at least meet my 2023 miles (1051). Barring the unexpected, I plan to log a lot of miles in July. Hope everyone has a great July.

  5. I managed 142 miles this month - more than I thought I'd do as I was planning to ease off a bit. This makes a grand total of 853 at the mid way point. I've rushed ahead because so much went wrong for last summer and then there was the loss of my Mum earlier this year. The walking has been really good for me and provided much needed head space. I'm also so much fitter and hope this will help me avoid health problems in the future. I don't think being 50 miles short is all that much Ilona - you can do this and I'm sure you'll catch up.

  6. Hi mother!!!! I think in no way are you failing. I know you don’t count them on your miles, but all trips you take and all the walking you do checking out the sights is probably more than 50 miles. So you have NOT failed at all!!! As healthy as you live you are winning everyday! 😊😊

    1. Hello Lynn. That's fantastic that you are well ahead. Good planning. I hope your hip replacement goes well. Give yourself time to heal. My friend had a knee replacement and has never felt better. It's amazing what they can do for you.

  8. I have two bad knees and a dodgy hip, mostly caused by a lifetime of walking as I never learnt to drive. So every bit of walking every day is an achievement for me! I walk to the shops and back and other times to events on at the market place. I reckon I manage around 30-40 miles a month.
