Twas a busy day today. This morning at Crafty Club was full house, and it was nice to see a fresh new face. The lady moved to the village in December, and is already looking for things to do and people to meet, in the community. A good sign, she will fit in with our friendly bunch very well.
After that I called in to have a coffee and a natter with Angela. Have not seen her since before Christmas so we had a lot to catch up on.
After a late lunch the sun was still shining so I took myself off to the Park. A couple of hours walk does me the world of good. It was dark when came out of the Park. I was the last one to leave at 5.30pm. One of the Rangers was just locking the gate. I said he doesn't have to wait for me because there is enough room to squeeze between the gate post and the wall. There is no danger of me getting locked in.
Anyway, here are some more photo's I took yesterday. After I left Claxby I thought I might find a nice village to park and go for a walk. I have already explored a lot of places in the Lincolnshire Wolds so I am running out of new ideas. It was also quite cold and I didn't fancy tramping through fields which are very muddy at the moment. I decided to drive towards Grimsby, and perhaps park up at Cleethorpes. When I got there it was chocablock with cars and people. The sunny afternoon had brought everyone out. I thought blow this I'm going to carry on driving and get the heck out of there.
I thought I would take the back roads home, and headed towards Immingham. I haven't been there for years. The Docks were a regular place to go and pick up containers. I didn't want to end up at the Dock gates, so I did a left turn and headed for Habrough. It's a small village, not much there, but I fancied a short walk before I went home.
I parked at the Village Hall and went to have a look at the church. It wasn't open so I couldn't go inside.
And then I spotted an abandoned and derelict hotel across the road from the church. I took a few photo's. There wasn't much to see. The photo's look quite flat and uninteresting so I have tweaked them a bit with extra contrast and saturation to bring out the colours.
The door was wide open but I didn't go inside. It could be dangerous with falling debris and rotting floors.
I thought the winter skeleton of this bush was very artistic. I wonder what it looks like in the summer with all it's leaves. As it was.
There is a For Sale board lying on the ground behind a wall. I don't know how long ago it was abandoned. There is a Facebook page for it, last entry was in April 2023. LetsBookHotel.com has it on their web site. The Move Market has it advertised for sale on their web site for £723,000, if you fancy it. I always find something interesting to photograph. The sun was going down when I set off for home. I came across this arch over the road near Brocklesby. Stop, take a photo, from both sides.
That's it for this post. An interesting day. A look at the renovations at The Old Rectory at Claxby, and finding another abandoned building at Habrough. This is becoming a habit. 😁😎😝
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
