How deep?

Good morning. Sunny outside but with a chill in the air. It's Post Office day at the church so my first job is to go there and withdraw a few quid from my bank account. I need some spends as I will have to get some food in this week.

Then I have options. Maybe I will get the bus to town and walk back. Maybe I will visit June. Maybe I will drive to town, visit the Arts Centre, and pick up food from Aldi as I am passing. I will definitely have to mow the lawn because it is looking scruffy and I need to fill up the brown bin for collection tomorrow. There are a lot of other 'maybes' but I have put them on the 'probably won't' pile. Another day will be along tomorrow.

I saw a man kneeling on a grass verge the other day, his car was parked nearby. I wondered what he was doing. Long straight road, not much traffic. Then I saw this come up on my screen, and the penny dropped. That road has a lot of daffodils on each side of it in the spring. A lovely show of yellow, in and out of the village. Could it be that he was planting more bulbs? I shall have a look when I next go that way.

Now to the Post Office. Must keep using it or the man might stop coming, then everyone will miss out. Older people with no transport rely on local services.
Thanks for popping in. Don't forget, no fighting. 💏💏💏

Mandala number 3

Hello there. I didn't take many photo's of this work in progress. This is how it started. Choose the centre piece and build the layers around it. The dark blue button is a fraction bigger than the others so the beads around it slightly bulge out at that point. Plastic rings wrapped with pink and green thread.

The large metal circle was given to me. I did a blanket stitch with blue thread to cover it, and went around it again with orange thread. I started off with a large hoop, but changed it for a smaller hoop.
Fill in the gaps with red and gold studs. Add some wide orange braiding and put some pink and green  French knots around the outside edge. I wrapped the outer hoop with blue ribbon, and I had some felt in exactly the same colour to cover the back.

I have an idea for another one but it will be a bigger hoop with a different design.
Crafty Club this morning, and a walk this afternoon. It's been a lovely sunny day.
There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of pheasants around the moment. It won't be long before those horrible people come along with their guns and dogs to blast them out of the sky. They call it sport. In my opinion they must be sick in the head. .

That's all for now Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

Stop fighting.

Good evening. The weather has been much better today, slightly cooler but no rain. I knocked up this video this morning.
Mayze getting some sun by the back door. I put a soft and comfortable bed just outside the back door for her, but she seems to prefer the hard mat.
Yesterday I made some bunting. I have lots of fabric so I ought to be using some of it up. Bunting is easy to make.
After lunch I decided to go and see June. I thought she might like the yellow bunting to decorate her room. I parked about a mile away from where she is staying. It's a nice walk across the fields. This is the old Police Station at Winterton, now turned into a private residence. It's a big building. There was a man cutting some branches off a tree next to it. I asked him if he lives there. He said yes. I said I am pleased to see that it is under renovation, and not being knocked down. I was hoping to get into a conversation with him but he wasn't forthcoming with the chat so I gave up. I would have liked to discover a bit about the history of the building.

The only picture I can find of it is this one. Copyright Fred Roberts. Taken in 2005.
When I got to the place where June is staying I found that she wasn't there. A staff member said she had been taken to hospital for a check up. He didn't know when she would be coming back. I left the bunting with him, with a note. He will put it in her room.
Then I went to the Co op and bought an ice cream, and set off walking back to the car.
Here's a bit of made up fake news for you.
Older motorists and drivers above the age of 70 could find they "won't be allowed to drive" due to rules around DVLA driving licence renewal.
Mayze is waiting for a cuddle so I had better sign off. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

Nature trail

Good evening. What a change in the weather from yesterday. Today it hasn't stopped raining. I haven't been anywhere, plenty of sewing to do. Made some bunting, and finished the latest mandala.
Here is a video I recorded yesterday and uploaded it to yooootooob this morning.

Are you ready for the next plandemic, it's coming. These warning posts keep popping up on faycebuck.
The Stratus and Nimbus strains - otherwise known as NB.1.8.1 and XFG - are two of the most common variants sweeping the UK at the moment. Here are the symptoms to look out for
The new strain of Covid-19, known as Stratus, has two variants - XFG and XFG.3, which were first discovered back in January of this year, and a GP has urged people to make three changes

They told us that there will be more nasty bugs coming along.
Next they will be offering a brand new jabby. Your health is your responsibility, not theirs.

Perfect walking day

Good evening. It was perfect weather for a walk this afternoon. Warm and breezy. Not a good start though when I came across mountains of fly tipping. Some household rubbish but mainly the usual cannabis plants. We seem to get a lot of that around here. Reported to the Council.

Moving on through a wooded area.
Out of the woods, high above the river bank. Some of these views I have photographed before. You might recognise them.

Onward to the next village. I sat on this bench and ate my cheese and pickle sandwich.
Opposite the bench is this house. It is very run down and looks like it is derelict. The windows are rotting and beyond repair. I think someone may be living there. The house is bigger than the photographs here. Such a shame.

Onward, out of the village, and down a farm track. This field is a glorious wild flower meadow. It looks amazing. I can just see it in a landscape painting.

You have to admit that pylons are pretty ugly, but with a moody sky and the right angle they can look quite majestic.

Sugar beets are coming along nicely.
I never noticed those solar panels before. Probably because they are quite some distance away.

Up and down the field, the seagulls are scavenging for food.

Ready for a sit down when I got back. Eight miles, as checked on Bikehike.co.uk.
Hedgehog news - four visiting tonight. Three of them all munching from the same plate of food on the lawn.
Thanks for popping in. Have a good weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

Dear Tony

Dear Tony. I half agree with you there. We do need a digital ID to confirm who has been vaccinated with the cov19 jabbies. In my opinion records should be kept including batch numbers and countries of origin, along with how many doses each person has received. and over what period of time.
This information would go a long way to ascertaining whether it has any bearing about any medical problems which have come to the surface since the roll out mandate.
The information would be a good starting point to any investigations when someone becomes ill for whatever reason. A process of elimination could start with the question of, 'did you take part in the mass vaccination programme for cov19'. This is the only reason where a digital ID could be helpful.

Dear Tony. To enforce a digital ID on everyone will have no benefit to me or anyone else who has legitimate reason to be in the UK. In my opinion your attempts to control the lives of millions of law abiding citizens will only lead to rebellion. You don't need to track my every move. You don't need to know my medical status, unjabbed by the way. You don't need to know how much is in my bank account. You don't need to know what I spend my money on. I pay my bills, I owe nothing. So Tony, I do not need your digital ID. I do not need a fancy mobile phone. I do not need to walk around with a screen telling me what to do. I have a functional brain. It may not be the best, but it has served me well for 76 years, four months, and three days.

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet - comedy

Good morning. I dropped on this video last night as I was looking for something to wind down with. A bit of comedy wouldn't go amiss. Who remembers Auf Wiedersehen Pet from the 1980's.

There is a whole yoootooob channel devoted to the antics of the lads.

You might need to activate the subtitles if you are not familiar with the Geordie accent. I use the subtitles all the time on most of the videos if the sound is a tad quiet.

Classic comedy-drama series about a group of British builders who head to Germany for employment. The lads arrive with hopes of high wages and frauleins. Guidance: programme contains sexual themes, nude images and moderate language throughout.

Had to laugh at the Guidance warning. There was nothing like that in the 80's, you can always use the 'off' button if you don't like it. My version of guidance is - The lads have a night out in a red light district somewhere in Germany. They discuss the goods on offer, eye up the girls plying their trade, and pull a few birds. Their language is laddish which which is normal for a gang of blokes out on the pull.

While you're at it, don't forget The Boys from the Blackstuff, and Bridging the Gap, when they moved the Tyne bridge to the US. Old fashioned comedy. I love it.

Time for breakfast. I've opened a tin of pineapple chunks which is three years out of date. Perfectly fine in my porridge, with a banana.

Party time at the club

Good evening. It was a different style of Coffee Morning today. We started at 11am instead of 10, and it finished at 1pm. So I suppose it was a Coffee Lunch. This is a once a year treat where they dip into the kitty and spend some of the surplus cash. A scoff all you can eat finger buffet.
There was a good turnout, more people than usual came. They laid out a good spread. Plenty for all.

There was also a bumper raffle with lots of nice prizes. Tickets are £1 for a strip of five. I don't know why they don't sell them singly at £1 each. The folded stubs are pulled out of the bucket in strips. So you only get one chance per strip. That's a waste of four tickets. I had ten strips and won two prizes.
They finished off the session with a game of Bingo. At that point I left. It's not my thing.
I bought two plants when I was at Doddington Hall. One for me and one for Janet. I bought a new pot to put mine in. It's looking very healthy. Janet sent me a photo of hers. It has little blue flowers on it. She is chuffed.

The weather is still changeable. Never know whether to go out or not. Threatens rain then the black clouds move away and the sun comes out.

A few days off.

 Good morning.

Fourteen posts in one day, did you like that. 🙋🙎🙆😻😹🙀

I might take a few days off blogging now, or maybe I won't.

I might publish some comments, or maybe I won't.

I might sit at this computer all day, or maybe I won't.

I might go to Coffee Morning, I probably will.

I might go for a walk, I possibly will.

I might do some housework, I probably won't.

I might watch a film, I possibly will.

I might go and visit my friend, maybe today or tomorrow.

I might do a bit of stitching, I probably will.

I might cook up a tasty meal, I probably will.

I might make beans on toast, I probably won't.

Ode to the joys of living alone.

Have a good day. Toodle pip.  ilona

I have have had a clear out in the drafts folder and published a selection of posts on here. That's better. I like to keep things tidy. Get rid of the garbage.
Now I've got to take Billy dog out. Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona
