Seeing eye to eye

Every night I get down on the floor and have a conversation with Rocky. I talk and he listens. I like sitting on the floor, and lying on the floor, don't know why, it just feels right. When I was young I used to lie on my back on the floor and look up at the ceiling and imagine it was the floor, and all the furniture was stuck to the ceiling and hanging down. Like a topsy turvy world. I just like floors, especially those with carpets.
Do you lie on the floor? Or sit on the floor?

Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip

  1. Several years ago i'd sit on the floor; we had carpet. Here, we have hardwood floors and no room really. (600 sq. ft. of living space.) Does my exercise routine count? I put a yoga mat down and do several moves to keep me limber and (hopefully) less cranky!

  2. When I was younger I always sat on the floor, I think it was a habit when we wanted to be nearer to the gas fire. When my kids were little I would spend most of my day on the floor crawling around and playing games. When we had a dog I would often lie on the floor next to her, just like your photo... sniff (miss her). Lucky Rocky having you. Debbie

  4. You look like you two are having such fun. I have slate and wooden floors downstairs with rugs. If I sit on the floor like you I would have all my dogs on top of me. They love to cuddle you.

  6. Enjoy! Due to bum knees I don't do the floor any more, but when I was younger I lived on the floor.

  7. Looks very cozy. I think you and Rocky are lucky to have found each other. As for floor sitting, it isn't something I do easily.

  8. We have carpet but I daren't sit on the floor any more as we've had a few large spiders this year running about and I'm terrified of them. Irrational I know but they're the only insect/animal that I'm scared of and we never kill. Hubby catches in a glass and removes. I have to get on the floor when the granddaughters visit but am on constant spider watch!

  9. I like my bed as a place to sit and lie, even in the day time. I work and study from it x

  10. Nice to see that somebody still has carpet! These days they all seem to have that ghastly laminate stuff which is supposed to look like proper floorboards and doesn't, it's just cold and creaky, there's no way you can get to the bathroom or wherever in the middle of the night without waking everybody else in the house up. Give me a carpet any day!

  11. Snap! I also prefer sitting on the carpet or a fluffy rug. I think it goes back to being a child in school when we would sit on the carpet area for play or story time.
I also use to lie back look at the ceiling and imagine all the furniture up there! haha

Rocky seems such a lovely and placid dog.

  12. Yes, we can often be found sat on the floor, especially on our fluffy new rug. Whiskas listens to me waffle on most nights, thankfully he can't tell me to be quiet. x x

  13. No, I like a big squishy sofa ... but my Lovely Hubby has fallen asleep on the floor many times, he's very comfortable down there, usually with a dog or three, and on occasion a cat as well for company :-)

  14. I sometimes lie on the floor to watch telly - it means I'm nearer so I can take my glasses off! When I sit on a chair I always have to tuck my legs up. I don't like to sit in chairs and let my little legs dangle!

  16. In my new home I have area rugs, but no carpet...wood and tile. So no, I don't lie on the floor much. I do get on the floor to play with Polly, and she also listens while I talk to her. Great selfie with Rocky!

  17. Lovely photograph Ilona. I seem to spend a lot of time on the floor too. When I first moved out of home into my own place it took me a while to get used to sitting on the sofa instead of on the floor with my back leaning against it. Being the youngest at home there was never enough room on the sofa so the floor was the place for me! X

  18. Hi.You and Rocky bonding is so touching, such a sweet photo.I haven't been on the floor much in this house, but used to in the other one with broadloom.Used to do my exercises and play/relax with the doggies all the time. Here we have hard mix of flooring.I would like to get a nice area rug someday. As a child ,teen and young adult mother used the floor for games, hobbies, schoolwork,,reading t.v.watching and just musing.Quality time with Sadie is on the sofa or armchair for singing,talking,cuddle/play time.Pretty much,we treat our doggies like toddler, furry family members. We just ignore the eye rolls from the more reserved,:-).Bye for now,D.

  19. I used to lie on the floor as a child and imagine the ceiling was the floor just like you. I had forgotten all about that. Thanks for bringing back a good memory. I do not sit on the floor now very much. I do get down on the floor with the grandkids. A bad hip makes it hard to get up easily, so I don't do it often.

  22. Ha I used to do the same thing and make believe I was lying on the ceiling. Funny the things we remember.
