The beginnings of a picture

Hello. I'm playing again. Colourful mesh fruit bags, there must be something I can do with them. A friend has been collecting these, she gives me anything that might be useful for artworks.
At the moment I'm just jiggling them around on a piece of foam board which I will use for the base. They are mostly red, I will look for different colours.

I quite like this, lay them out as a backwash.

There will be a lot of stitching as the foam is strong enough to support lots of holes where the needle goes through, without falling apart.

Emails in this morning from Lithuania and Australia. Might be able to fix up a TV appearance down under, and a newspaper/magazine article in Lithuania.

I'm off for a walk right now to ponder further. I have a magazine to deliver to my friend Joanna down the hill, she is in Woman's Weekly.

Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon. Toodle pip

if you have one left, wrap a bar of soap in it, its great for lathering it up to get your hands clean :-) can't wait to see the art though :-)

  2. A good recycling project Ilona, apart from the creativity value these items are one of the worst for entangling birds and small mammals who choke or get trapped. Am looking forward to the end result of your artwork. Amanda

  3. I fold them up into a small square, hand sew around the edges and use for scrubbing any food stuck on dishes or pots. JanF

  4. I use those as pan/worktop/sink scrubbers!

  5. Like Jan and Barbara I use them as pot scrubbers. I wind them in a tight circle and crochet the top edge to hold it all together.

  7. Ha Ha! Glad to know I'm not the only one who saves these plastic nets! I've got a small basket full, intending to make a floral garland of some kind that can have solar powered lights threaded onto to it and be used outside and, once the lights are removed it could be washed. The sunlight might bleach the colours, making it more interesting!
