On yer bike!

I little video I did yesterday. Sunny day bike ride. Wobbling, sore bum, changing gears, puffing and panting up hills, is this really for me? Does it get any easier with practice?

  2. I like your bike helmet. The bike helmet makes you look like a proper bicyclist:) I haven't cycled for years but loved it when I was younger. How come the bike seats seem so much harder than when we were kids, even with padded bike seats?

  3. hi ilona mayze heidi and oscar what a good pastime in younger days used to love cycling but due to chronic illnesses including arthritis cant do it anymore but have to agree with you its wonderful for your health and enjoyable too. my two fur babies amy and benny are cuddled up to each other which is a rare occurrence because now and again they do have a disagreement especially at feeding time. beautiful to see them loving each other cats are really very loving at times. Hope all goes well for you in 2019 and many thanks for the lights in glass advice. i have them on at present and it is incredibly uplifting thank you so much it makes us happy. LOVE to you mayze heidi and oscar and hope heidi will be fine. LOVE from liz amy and benny.xxxxxx

  5. You really need a brooks saddle that you break in to fit to your shape. I know it is a bu**er whilst breaking in but once done it will last a lifetime. Gel seats don't mould to your shape hence why you have a sore rear. It all takes time though.

  6. I've tried so many times to get into cycling and tried hard to enjoy it. But it's no good. Endevering not to get killed by wretched traffic is a nightmare. Hi viz vests, hideous helmets and no let up with the sore bottom. What a faff! Cycling just ever beats walking for me. I just lace up my boots and go. Simple. Good luck Ilona. Sally

  8. Hi Ilona, I sure wish I could bike. I did so much years ago. At the time, I padded a pair of shorts myself. You just need something that will wick away moisture. I think I used some fleece, cut it to the right shape and then zigzagged it one. Those shorts weren’t quite up to par with my bicycle shorts, but they were a good back-up pair and certainly helped out with the sore bum problem. Never leave home without a snack! You need the fuel :). I hope you continue to try it.

  9. I thought about getting a bike about 10 years ago,but then decided against it because there is just too much traffic on the roads where I live.Too many idiots in cars aswell!.A park with no traffic would be great...but then I would have to get the bike there!.I prefer to stick my walking boots and back pack on.Much safer!,xx

  10. I don't think cycling on the roads is safe these days. As someone said too any idiots in cars, but it has to be said 'too many idiots on bikes' as well! who hasn't been behind a group of cyclists who think they 'own the road' and ride 2/3 abreast refusing to move over ? no wonder car drivers get exasperated !
Stick to walking - it's safer.
By the way does anyone know if cyclists have to pay road tax? I've always wondered that. They do use the roads after all.
I think the worst offenders are the cycling clubs who somehow get permission to use roads as 'sports/racing tracks', that definately shouldn't be allowed, it's just asking for accidents to happen to both cyclists and motorists.
No, I think the days of tootling along 'on yer bike' for recreation are long, long gone.
