FINISHED 😍😎😝 Last week at the Coffee Morning someone asked me if it would be finished by this week. I didn't think it would, because I am a slow methodical worker. Everything has to be right. Over the last few days I have been enjoying the process, so I have been keen to see the end result. and I love it.
How it started. Wrap some plastic rings in coloured embroidery thread. The red pearly thing is a bangle which I wrapped with red wool.
Wrap the inner ring in gold thread. Make some sparkly buttons out of pipe cleaners to go in the centre of the small rings.Search my buttons and broken jewellery for something that might work.
Not sure which way to go. Several options to consider. Play around with the layout. Add the small red washers and put a gold stud in each one.
Make a bigger circle to fit around it all. I cut the top off a popcorn tub and wrapped it in blue wool. Sew a thin red cord around the inside of the blue circle. Stitch on 50 small buttons.
Put a red sparkly pipe cleaner around the buttons. Almost ready, I forgot to take a photo of the finished front. Wrap the outer hoop with orange ribbon. Gather the excess at the back and put some wadding inside.
Cue fanfare. Finished. You can see the decorative silver edge now. I added extra studs between the small red circles to fill the gaps.
Next to my previous mandala. I can't decide which one I like best.
All the hoop creations I have previously made.
Phew. Now I will rest my brain, until I start the next project.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
Beautiful
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteReally stunning Ilona and good to see the different stages you went through.
ReplyDeleteI start a project and I have no idea where it's going to take me.
DeleteI love them both ,
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Thank you. I might keep both.
DeleteCertainly one of your best art projects, and also your best and my favourite mandala/ hoop project. It's lovely. I know you have a big stash of materials and frequent charity shops, but you must spend a small fortune on thread with all the hoop winding.
ReplyDeleteJ.
I spend hardly anything on thread, can't remember the last time I bought any. I have some great friends in the village, Crafty Club and the Coffee Morning. They see me work and give me a lot of threads.
DeleteWow!!!! I absolutely LOVE it. I so wish I had your talent and vision. I would have no clue where to start and would soon be discouraged when something didn’t go just right. Right now my hobby is crossword puzzles and reading. I would really like to do something with my hands. My sister in law is an excellent crocheter (is that a word lol). I may have to take some lessons from her and see what I can get into this winter. Thanks for sharing mother. Your talents never end.
ReplyDeleteThere are some great crochet tutorials on YouTube Tammy. I have learned a lot more about crochet by following some of those. H
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt looks amazing Ilona. So much work & detail in it. I love all your mandala's. Do you have them all grouped on a wall, on display I wonder. I would be totally lost without my craft work - it certainly does exercise your brain.
ReplyDeleteI put a few things on a wall for a week or two after I have finished them. Then I wrap them up and pack them away because I want to keep them clean for the time that I might eventually sell them or give them away. Starting a crafty arty project is a challenge for me. It is so satisfying to watch it develop into something hopefully lovely. Working with my hands gives me a sense of achievement. Problem solving is my thing. Stretching myself, physically and mentally is a great workout. I am sure you get the same pleasure out of it.
