Good morning. Sunshine here. A last look at the art in the gardens of Doddington Hall. Checking back to last years photo's I think that the exhibits in 2024 were far more adventurous and diverse. But art can be anything. I might give this a miss next year and look for other events which might be appealing to me.
Unless you walk around with the price list in your hand and mark off the numbers as you see them, it is difficult to check afterwards. I come to see the exhibits, not the price of them. As a guide, the most expensive one is £75,000, and the cheapest is £20.
And then the sky went black and a massive thunderstorm, chucked several million buckets of water down on everything. I took shelter at the back of the house in an alcove.
That's better. The sun has come out and everything is nice and clean once again.
This I did find the price of. Welded nuts and chain by Shaun Gagg. Life size. £8,950.
A gigantic golf ball made of metal rings welded together.
You can watch the video here.
The Hall closed at 4pm, so I went back to my car and brewed up a coffee before I set off back home. I watched a couple with children return to their car and strap the kids in the back. The car looked like just the sort that would be good for car camping. Big, with lots of space inside. Privacy glass another plus. I walked across to ask them about the car. The nice young couple didn't mind at all. He said they had the car, a Chrysler, shipped over from the States. They are on a three year contract for his company. The accent gave it away. Sadly, there aren't any Chrysler dealers in the UK, but it was nice meeting them.
Another smashing day out. Meeting the campervan couple, was a bonus. Always good to start a conversation.
Right. Tuesday morning and I have things to do. My friend June is temporarily in a care home in the next village, recovering from a nasty fall which resulted in major surgery for a shattered knee. I will go and see her today. And it won't be long before I am running out of cat food, so I can see a visit to Home Bargains and The Range on the horizon.
Thanks for popping in. see ya soon. Toodle pip. ilona
I love all the art pieces! The trees at the top are beautiful and fall seems to be coming early to your area. We haven't had rain for a few weeks and I see some of the trees here (in Indiana) just starting to turn. We usually don't have our trees turn until October. Have an Amazing week!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy. Fall hasn't quite arrived here yet. The picture is from last year. I have thousands stored on my computer and pull them out from time to time to change the header.
DeleteThat is what I call "proper art"...some beautiful pieces. I particularly like the cockerel and the stained glass squares.
