Blot on the landscape

 BBC Yorkshire

12h
Panels will be installed across 55 hectares of countryside, including some around 500m from the outdoor tourist attraction.

At least six 'nationally significant' plans are underway, with five more already approved
How many more are planned?

  1. Huge swathes of land are going to be taken up by these solar farms. Being called farms is a complete misnomer because no farming will be going on here and the soil will be poisoned indefinitely. Large areas of where my parents lived are being consumed by there monstrosities. If people strove to consume less instead of more much of this wouldn’t be necessary.

  2. Unfortunately, the Mad Milli and makes it more lucrative for landowners to "farm" solar panels than to practice real agriculture. So we end up with horrendously expensive electricity, having to import food, and permanently destroyed landscapes.

  3. I recently had a countryside walk that had a solar farm built in the middle of the walk,.. and the last time I walked it the 4 vast fields were full of hares and deer. This time, well, no hares as the fences are so high and there was one deer in the solar farm,… how did it get in? Perhaps when the large gates were open during the day to one of the solar farm fields? Poor thing, it will never get out as the fences are higher than deer can jump, they are about 8 foot high.. and where is nothing to eat for it to keep alive in there as the ground is barren because of the shade from the panels. Oona.

    1. Well Oona, that sounds horrendous. We import more people into the country which increases demand for electricity and gas. They close our coal mines and import the fuel we need from other parts of the world. Solar panels and wind farms will never supply all that we need. Net zero is a scam.
