UK Government's Digital Identity Survey (updated)

I include this here, because as Richard says, it needs your urgent attention.
The UK Government have given a ridiculous short amount of time to a public consultation about the proposal of Digital Identities that will impact the citizens of the Great Britain.
This is an open consultation on draft legislation to support identity verification. Richard tries to talk us through it, but it is so complicated that the document needs a lot more study to fully understand it. Here is a link so you can go through it yourself in your own time. If you want to take part in this survey you need to complete it by the 1st of March.
The organisations affected by this consultation are public authorities in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland  and/or other government departments, arm’s length bodies, non-departmental public bodies or other organisations who may consider they could be affected by the draft regulations. It may also be relevant to other bodies that have an interest in identity verification services. The specified organisations are not meant to be exhaustive or exclusive. Responses are welcome from anyone with an interest in or views on the subject covered by this consultation.
This has been on the cards for some time, and most people don't realise what an impact it will have on our lives if it goes through. Basically our identities will be defined by just a number. If we go along with this, every aspect of our lives will be on record digitally, and will be available to anyone who requires access to it. This is one reason why we need to pay for as much as we can with cash.
I make no apologies for talking about the subjects that will affect us all. Supporting each other is what we should be doing now. Thanks for popping in.  ilona

Update.
I have just come across this video from The Black Belt Barrister. He explains more about what a digital identity is about. The pro's and con's of it. You might want to check it out.
