Good evening. There is always something unusual to see at the park. Look at the size of this fungi, at the foot of a massive tree. I'm not sure how much longer it's got to live, before it starts to deteriorate. I suspect it will start crumbling soon.
Putting my boots into the picture gives an indication of it's size. Looking at it from a different angle. I got down on my knees and placed the camera onto the ground for this shot. The underside looks smooth compared the the crinkly top.
Bigger than my rucksack.
I will see what it looks like when I next go there.
Thanks for popping in. Enjoy your Sunday. Toodle pip. ilona

ReplyDeleteI thought that they were huge pine cones at first glance. Never seen anything like it! The trees in the header are glorious.
ReplyDeleteI need to sign up to one of these fungi foraging walks with an expert. I’m only ever tried puff balls as you can’t really mistake these. They were delicious cooked in butter.
ReplyDeleteI think some of them might be edible, but I will stick to the shop bought button mushrooms.
