A wheelie good idea

Hello. It hasn't been as nice as yesterday but still warm enough to play outside. I was searching through all of my jumble to find something that I could use for the base of the tree. It's a bit top heavy so it needs a wide and sturdy bottom. Then I spotted the office chair which I threw out a few months ago, the cats have been lying on it. It is now soaking wet and only fit for the dump, but hang on a minute, I might be able to use part of it. So I got the spanners out, the screwdrivers and the hammer, and proceeded to decapitate it.
I needed to find a way to attach the tree to the base, I know, I have a piece of black plastic pipe, out of a skip of course. I cut a piece to the right length and slipped it over the stump, then wedged it tight with pieces of wood.

The diameter of the pipe was 4.5 inches, the same as the width of the pink, square, tree trunk. I had to shave s bit off the four corners with the saw so that it fitted snugly inside the pipe. And there you have it,  a tree on wheels, it will match the summer house when it's done.

I made a start on painting it, but at 4pm there was a heavy shower so I quickly packed everything away and beat a hasty retreat indoors.

I made a big pan of allsorts for lunch, eaten with a microwaved spud, and just had a portion for dinner. There's enough for tomorrows lunch. Mushrooms, onion, Quorn mince, a spicy bean burger, peas and beans, in a mild curry sauce. Very nice.

That's me done, thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

  4. Good idea for a base, looks good, but I'm not convinced that it will not blow over in a strong wind. ?? Then again, with those wheels you could be chasing it down the garden, ha ha ! Look forward to seeing it finished. Wondering what you will create to adorn it. I have a few ideas. :-)

  5. Well although I commented last night saying that I was going to get my chair out of the garage....Im afraid that I got a bit waylaid!!.Getting to the chair,I had to move loads of bits and pieces...even furniture that I had found over the last couple of years...some stuff that I have had for about 30 years, lol. So instead I have brought out 3 old drawers that someone was throwing out and an old cushion that was part of a settee. The drawers I am saving for my Grandaughter to paint cause she enjoys upcycling with me and Im going to use as planters for my kitchen scraps. Then the settee cushion had one big solid piece of foam in it so can be cut up into smaller pieces for wiping down things, cleaning the toilets, ect. The cushion cover is filthy,so I might try washing it and see if it comes up clean enough to keep in the car for our picnic blankets, cups and plates so on the next warm sunny day we are ready to go for a picnic in the park....Although,I have hardly made a dent in the stuff in there,Im thinking now....well,I have slimmed my fridge,my kitchen cupboards,my dustbin,my wardrobe...errm,not been so good on that last one,lol...and now over the next couple of months ,my garage!I do love the end results though!,Hope every ones having a lovely day, although dull here in Leicester, its warm enough for me to be out of the house doing something usefull.xx

    2. Glad that you liked them Flis and they were of some use to you.If ever you want another spider plant, let me know cause they breed like rabbits in my house, lol. And thank you for the lipstick as well,xx.Well i have really had a constructive day today. The drawers are out ready for my Grandaughter to rub down n paint. The foam is cut down into sponge type pieces and Im going to have to put the cover onto a really hot wash. Then i got started on the garden..I have weeded, pulled the compost over and planted cuttings from a flower bush that my old neighbour gave me before he died.I have also replanted a huge cactus that had out grown its pot..I bought it for 50p when it was a baby cactus!I have scrubbed the balcony part of the decking and it looks alot cleaner, just with a bit of bleach and water....And with a last attempt to recycle,lol,..the hard yard brush,i scrubbed the decking with broke..well it is about 20years old..Ive used the long handle to it to prop a yukka plant up more and I am going to use the brush bit..turn it with the bristles upwards...to look like a shock of hair and paint the wooden bit with eyes, nose and a mouth to put in my little front garden!,xx

  7. Pat,
Enjoy your posts and ideas. As I’ve mentioned before I am in Dawson Creek, Canada.
I live in a small apartment and try to live as economically as I can, so I can splash out on holidays. Last year I joined a bus tour and went across Canada and 8 of the northeastern States in the USA. Wonderful month long trip.

  8. Hello Ilona, please can you tell us why you were in the Belgian newspapers? I know you get about a bit, tv, radio etc, but what have we missed? Famous, now international ! :-)

    1. I have no idea. I haven't seen it, and Suzanne hasn't included a link in her comment. It's probably an old interview that's been re hashed. I haven't spoken to the media for a long time. International fame is not new, I am big in Australia. In the newspapers there, Australian social media, live interview on the radio there. In 2016 my story went all around the world, it was translated into several different languages.
