Need to say this.

Hello. I don't go onto other people's blogs and tell them what they should be doing, when I don't see things as they do. They are different to me, and conduct their lives in whichever way they think fit. I might not always agree with them, but what's it got to do with me anyway. It's their blog, I read, make the odd comment, then move on. No point in making waves, I like a simple life and prefer to pass by  those lifestyles which do not match my own.

So why then do people come onto my blog and tell me what I should be doing? Why do they feel the need to voice their opinions on how I should conduct my life? I don't care that people would do things differently in similar circumstances. You are not me, and I am not you.

I have butchered the previous post, and some of the comments, because I am fed of those who attempt to impose their own superior values on me. This is what I would do, blah blah blah. Your way is not better than my way, we are all different.

Now I am going to get on with my crafting and art, and garden. I may be back on here at some point. Have a nice weekend.

Ilona

  2. I totally agree with your comments in this post, it seems that this is a common problem and I think it is such a shame that some people do not treat bloggers with respect and basic manners, it is a problem throughout society too and it maddens me. I bumped into Jane , who previously blogged as Frugal Queen , this week, she told me that she gave up blogging as some people were so vile and her tips and advice helped many people. I do hope that you can continue to enjoy your blogging it brings so much pleasure to so many, best wishes Chrissie.

  3. Ilona - I'm sorry you've had this experience. I call it Facebook syndrome - everyone thinks their lives are brilliant and opinions are flashes of genius, and are determined to correct the rest of humanity. Ummm, no .......

  4. I have just subscribed to receive your posts through email as I have been reading you on Bloglovin and rarely comment. I’m so sorry people are trying to tell you how to live your life. I love your blog and even have a section on Bloglovin of saved posts under Mean Queen Wisdom. I hope you have a good day. Your faithful reader Tina.

  7. Geeeez! It is YOUR blog. YOU can write anything you want. People should keep those comments to themselves. There are some blogs I no longer follow and we can all “ vote with our feet”.
I enjoy your point of view and a look into your lifestyle. Your frugal tips help many.

  9. Hello Ilona. I think I must have missed the post you edited, when it first came out, so don't really understand the ins and outs, but just wanted to say ignore the negativity, whatever it was. I think you are an inspirational person, are kind, creative with a great positive attitude we could all learn from. In any case everyone has the right to live as they choose, provided they are not harming anyone or anything.

I didn't have chance to read your last post until this morning, but I'm sorry if there were unkind comments. 'Live and let live' is my take on life. Your plants and flowers are lovely - there is nothing like that where I live. I really liked your 'cutlery crafts' - they would fetch a packet at our local farmers market. Take care and enjoy the day.

  17. Well said Ilona, I know exactly where you are coming from, infact I got to the stage where I had enough of a certain individual and stopped writing my blog, now I have started a new blog (UK Frugal Living) about frugality and simplicity, I need to toughen up and not let remarks get to me, infact I am going to be more selective when it comes to publishing comments in the future, as you say there are those who want to impose their superior values, and we are all certainly different. Enjoy your weekend Ilona and don't let the buggers get you down.
    Best wishes
    Marlene.

  18. I agree with you Ilona. There are too many people nowadays who have the need to voice their opinions with no thought at all. It is one of the the downsides of social media. Please don’t let this stop you blogging. Reading your blog has become part of my daily routine and I for one would miss you x

Thank you for your blog and ideas. Xx

  29. I agree with you, why do some people feel they need to tell you what to do on your blog. I read your blog post before you changed it and I am amazed that some people felt the need to dictate to you or leave negative comments on it. I thought it was a great blog and the basket turned out so well after you painted it. I just wish those people would stop trying to spoil things for those of us who always enjoy your blogs very much. They are like a breath of fresh air to most of us who read them. Keep up the good work.

Your property looks lovely and colourful. And you have a wonderfully creative mind. I'm enjoying your craft posts immensely.

It would be a really messed up world if we were all the same. We would still be living as cave men because no one would have a new idea. I enjoy reading your blog because you do believe in yourself and your right not to live a cookie cutter life. Please don't let these people get you down. Just continue to live the life of your choice and be happy.

I don't always comment, although I read your posts and have been reading them for several years, now; but I always admire all the wonderful things you do. 49. Hello Ilona, I too read the original post and don't undestand what any of the negative critical comments would be referring to. Obviously it's the basket as you've deleted it, but I don't understand why. You improved the look of it and gave it a second life, that's an improvement in my book.

From what I read in the comments on each post you have more compliments than critiscism so just ignore the grumpy miseries and carry on as you have been doing.

  53. Ilona,
As I hope you know, I love your blog and appreciate the time you spend sharing ideas and learnings. I thank you for the walking group since walking has changed my life in the past few years and you are the one I thank for starting me down that path. There are lots of crazy negative folks in this world. Even folks I ive with every day can be negative, judgmental and controlling so I have decided to do my best to change my point of view when they comment. I am trying to learn not to let negativity make me negative too. I read a quote that I tell myself when I am faced with critical folks. “You can’t calm the storm, you can only calm yourself”. I hope you can let the crazies roll off your back like water off a ducks back.

  55. I just want to add my two bobs worth to the previous comments. I completely agree with everyone else and can't understand why people have to impose their thoughts, ideas etc. on others. I always read your blogs and even if it's not what I would always do or think, I never comment as it is your life not mine. I get such a lot of good ideas and inspiration from you and you are such a positive person and I hope you continue to blog. I think these days there are a lot of people who have the wrong attitude to others but don't let them win! The world would be a better place if more people were like you. Thank you for your blog.

  56. I agree with all of the above, I love your blog, you are so inspirational, even to others who don't live in the UK, you give something to everyone who reads the blog. Keep on keeping on.

  57. Some people go through their entire lives living someone else's. One of the greatest lines I have ever read is, "When you are writing the story of your life, don't let someone else hold the pen." You hold your own pen well, Ilona. They are just jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I always think of my blog as being a public diary of a very boring life in my case . I dont care that people dont agree with me, they dont in the real world, if you have that streak of individuality in your soul the sheep dont like it ...Stuff them ...lol

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi, Don't take offence Ilona, BUT,it has to be said, that if you put yourself 'out there' in blogland, then all the comments you get are not going to be to your liking. As it's said over and over, we are not all the same, and do not have the same opinions, that doesn't make people bad, unkind and uncaring, (or grumpy miseries) they just have different opinions which is something you comment on in this post. Some folk just love to give opinions (sometimes too strongly) but it's all part of having a comments box, and it's something that has to be accepted unless you remove the option to reply. Not everyone is going to agree.
I'm not agreeing with whoever it was that upset you this time, (I didn't even see the comment!) -however, I agree with the reply that you should carry on being yourself, you have enough followers to prove you are doing something right ! but someone else mentioned 'sheep' - well if everyone agrees with you (or anyone else) all the time, and the comments are all of the same ilke, isn't that what they are being ? - sheep ? I think it is good to have diverse comments (not hurtful of course) otherwise it just becomes a fan club.
I've followed your blog for years, don't always comment, but I respect you for what you are and having the courage to live your life the way you want. I certainly don't always agree with what you say or some of your opinions, but you are always interesting and entertaining. I do, however, get a bit fed up with some of the replies that just keep telling you how wonderful you are, constructive comments are much better than 'ego stroking', that to me, is being a 'sheep'.
Keep on being you, accept all comments unless they are downright rude and hurtful, and don't rise to the the bait - you don't need too.
Remember you've rattled someones cage or they wouldn't make hurtful comments.

    1. Hello Wean. I did read the blog before it was altered, and I think I know the comment which started this.
I read Ilona's blog, and like you, do not always comment. When I do, I do it because I have something I feel worth saying, not just for the sake of it. On a topic, especially if asked, I may share my experience or knowledge, but never be rude or push my values on others, and never flatter for the sake of it.
Having read your comment I have to say that I couldn't have put it better myself. I agree with each point, and you haven't been offensive in any way at all, just honest and logical.
Ilona, I understand your reaction yesterday, some days things for whatever reason, affect us more than others, and we have a furious response. I also understand your comment today and how you would perhaps have done things differently. In the cool of a new day, hindsight is something which hits us all. As my OH sometimes says to me, "Let it go now, move on, its not worth getting worked up about." Not easy I know, but hey, there are much more important things in life to worry about.:-)

  60. You are sharing so much creativity, frugality, (in) joy and friendship, with humor and common sense, which I think is a gift to many.
Those negatively thinking and living people lack all of that and all your uplifting work, inspiration and pleasure have been simply not spent on them.
Ilona, I'll keep walking with you and not just for those 1000 kilometers this year!

different view on life. I personally really enjoy your creative mind and your ways. ( I don,t like the painted David ha ha) Why would I log on otherwise? So to me if a person logs into your blog doesn,t like what you say, writes a nasty comment, fool them. What a waste of time for them. Bonkers. Jealousy is a terrible thing. 67. Hmm...I remember reading the old post (and I am sorry you altered it because it was just fine) and recall the comments. I didn't quite get what the comments were getting at. Were they giving gardening advice? Well its in the past now and out of everyone's mind. I was going to say though that there are people who love giving advice and then there are people who will never give advice. I really don't know which I prefer. The person who says what they thinks and puts their two bit in whether its wanted or not or the person who holds back snuggly knowing something that could be helpful or useful to someone. You have to laugh at it all don't you to keep your sanity. I sure understand how you feel when comments are critical. You put your heart and soul, time and effort into this blog and some picky individual comes along and tears it to shreds. So sorry that this happens but always grateful that you do it Ilona because what you write is wonderful. Take care.
