Free pressies up for grabs

Do not fear, Meanqueen is here. We've had a weird weather day today. It couldn't make up it's mind what it wanted to do. Brilliant sunshine and blue skies one minute, and black clouds with torrential rainfall the next. Bloomin annoying when you want to do stuff outside.
This is my lunch today, I thought I would try grilling slices of polenta. I didn't add anything to it, and I must say, it tasted of nothing at all. It definately needs spices and flavourings to make it palatable. The scrambled eggs with mushrooms was very nice though. More experiments tomorrow.
Who likes this shopping bag? I ran it up on the machine in about half an hour. I must use up some of the fabric I got from the Scrapstore ages ago, no point in it lying around in my storeroom. This very nice posh shopping bag is free to the winner of the prize draw. So if you want to win it, let me know in a comment and I will put the names in a tin or box, or something suitable and draw one out. I will post it to anywhere in the world.
It's a very strong bag, made of thick fabric with a rubbery backing, so it may be waterproof. I have enough fabric for two more, so I'll get sewing pronto and three lucky people will get a pressie coming their way. Closing date 12 noon on Wednesday.
Toodle pip.

  2. Hi Ilona, I would love one of those, blue my favourite colour. Weather was the same in North Norfolk today too - which is very unusual, we do not seem to get as much rain as a lot of the country, just their share of wind.

  5. You know I have to enter! An Ilona designer bag? Yes please!
Polenta begs for a spicy tomato sauce or something like that otherwise it's like chewing air.

I've been away for a while. Did you enroll?) Warm regards from Elaine near Philly once of Grantham, eh438@aol.com.

  11. Hello from northern Idaho, USA. Please enter me in the draw. It's lovely!

I've never eaten "polenta," but I've had plenty of cornmeal mush, which is about the same thing. You may like it better if you fry it in a little butter, so it is slightly crispy, and eat it with pancake syrup. Sometimes I flour the slices first, but not always. Good with eggs and breakfast meats.

    Raining here today, too.

I agree about polenta - it's all about what you serve it with.

  16. Please enter me in your prize drawing. It looks a lot better than the ratty one I'm using, and I like your name embroidered on it.

I agree with another person's comment about eating polenta for breakfast, fried in a little butter and served with syrup. Yummy!

    Thanks from Illinois, USA

  35. Love the bag. I like the print and the blue color. I would say put my name in to win the bag but I don't want you to have to send it all the way here to the US. You did a great job on it. You're very handy! Thanks for the offer though.

  36. Danneke here, Would love to go in the BAG DRAW I sure do need a new shopping bag, I had to go into M&S yesterday and looked at the bags there, soon put one back on the rack,it was heavy and so was the price £30 . I am sure your bag Ilona will last a lot longer than the £30 one.
I tried Pollenta years ago, I did not like it but it can be used in cakes, Its a semolina I think and does need a lot of flavouring added to make it more palletable. The scrambled eggs look good, I like mine with some strong cheese added to it. Goood luck to all in the draw
