  1. If your travels bring you north and you would like to use our guest bathroom for a shower you would be very welcome. Plenty of gorgeous walking territory here

  3. What a simple, well thought out Set up.Very cosy and safe.
You can get different cords for phones etc. from the cheap shops and charging your phone while the car is going is as easy as using your existing charger into the usb port in the car.
    Happy camping.

  4. Just read about you making a selfie handle, if you aren't happy with the grip you made, the cheap shops sometimes have the folding or telescopic ones, same section as the cords.good luck

  5. Your camping car could possibly do with some curtains - partly for privacy but mostly to block out the early morning light. Mind you if you take an eye mask that should solve the light problem. Happy tootling!

    1. If I am going to do this on a regular basis I might need curtains to keep the light out. I am an early riser so it's not too bothersome in the mornings to be woken up when it gets light.

  6. Is your bed actually placed OVER the folded down back seats?

    1. Yes, the back seats fold flat. I always have extra carpets in my car. If I need the back seats up to accommodate passengers, which is very rare, I move the carpets to the back to the boot area.

  7. Looks like a good set up! I love the thought of minimalistic camping. Camping on family holidays with 3 children in a large frame tent was very hard work back in the day! But now, just the 2 of us, it would be much easier. Happy camping!

  8. Brilliant little film Ilona. Is it weird that you are now reminding me of my son!! He is currently driving a Ford Focus Estate, his has a bike rack on the roof so he can take his eldest boy mountain biking with him ... although he longs to go back to his racier days with his boy racer Ford Focus. He is a HGV driver and garage foreman, so well used to sleeping in tiny little cabs. Although saying that, all the latest cabs seem to have all the mod cons you can possibly think of.

    1. I would probably need some extra tuition on all the updates in a lorry cab if I was to go back to driving. My gadgets were very simple. Little tele, and cb radio.

  9. I can see the look in your eyes that you are so looking forward to your trip and I would be too!!.We once camped at a little place called Wolvey about 18 miles from Leicester I think and it was so peaceful.Just some chickens running about..great for buying fresh eggs from the owner...and a duck pond!.There were toilets and showers as well. But it was just up a track off the road and we had a great time! All we took was a change of suitable clothes,a little radio and a pack of playing cards.Happy Days!xx

  10. It all looks very well organised Ilona. I remember you camping in your previous car. Hope all goes well and the weather stays half decent for you. I had to sell our vans last year when my husband died, and the memories of camping in quiet sites with lovely surroundings makes me nostalgic. Best wishes Spreckly.

  11. I think you're so very brave, Ilona. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do alone very well. I do admire your spirit, your planning and thinking about things, and your desire to see and visit places for a change up of scenery. I am quite spoiled, and prefer hotels, etc. With 5 girls, my Mother told our Father that she refused to work harder on vacation than she did at home, so no camping for us! :) We were lucky they could afford hotels (with efficiency kitchens) on vacation. We had no idea how lucky we were, until of course we became adults responsible for the $$ it cost to vacation! I can't wait to see what you get up to on your travels!!

  12. Love your car camper!! I'm like you - don't need much to weigh me down. The only thing that I would need is complete coverings at all of the windows and windscreen. Do you have that sorted out? I can't wait to escape - anywhere!!

  15. I was wondering about curtains also. But you are creative and clever and so you are probably already thinking of ways to do that. Hope you enjoy your camping trip and have excellent weather!
