Cast your mind back to..........

I've just got to post some more of these clips, ha ha. My goodness, I've gone back to my childhood. Click on these if you want to go down Memory Lane. There are a lot of the old original programmes in full on youtube, who needs a tele when you can get everything on a computer.

Report on the soya milk yogurt I made. Nothing special, not as nice as the real milk one, strange taste to it. I am using it up on stewed apples, won't use soya milk again.

Today has been a doggy day. Henry choc lab has been to visit, a long walk this morning of almost two hours, and this afternoon Henry and Rocky for 1hr 20mins. The weather has been kind of bracing I think they call it, a sharp cold blast of arctic wind coming across the river. Certainly made the nose dribble a lot, ha ha.

A few sessions on the new machine, think I'm getting the hang of the computer bit now. Watching the time and distance slowly increase spurs me on to do a bit more. Just another five minutes, or just another kilometer. I'm not pushing myself too hard though, don't want to bugger the knees up. It could be quite addictive, move over Jodie marsh, I'm a comin, ha ha.

  1. Goodness, you have taken me back to my childhood, the only missing ones are Hop-along Cassidy and Roy Rogers!

Glad to know that you are getting used to the cross trainer, I expect I would fall off!

  2. Well done on the exercise regime. I used to love Casey Jones and we always watched it in our house. This was back when, like everyone else, we had one telly and the whole family sat in the same room and watched together. How times have changed!

  4. Oh yes I remember all those! and I remember the words to Casey Jones. Being a big horse lover, I really like Follyfoot, but that Dora annoyed me, she was always blubbing!
What about Bonanza and also Belle and Sebastion? great music!!

  5. I was surprised how many theme tunes I could remember off the top of my head. Don't make programmes like that anymore.lol

  6. I had the biggest crush on Pernell Roberts as Adam! Ilona, forgive me for going off topic for this, but...I just opened a blog and for the life of me cannot get the comments to show for folks to leave one if they wish!!! Any idea what I'm doing wrong?? I go to settings and have literally set the comments to be embedded, or even a pop-up window style and save. Then....nothing. Not even a few hours later!!! I was so aggravated I even took off my recent post (menopause is so much FUN!!). Can ya clue me in? Or another commenter? Thanks ever so much ;o).

I was very young with Bonanza, so it was a little girl crush!

  7. Eileen, I can't check your blog because your profile is not available. From what you have said, your comments should work within a few seconds of making your changes and saving. I wonder if it is anything to do with the fact your profile is private? I'm not really sure. Put your blog address on here and me or someone else can try and leave a comment and tell you what happens.

  8. OH! LOL. Will go get my profile publicized....feel a doh coming on....

  9. Eileen I can see your blog now, you have no button to comment. From your dashboard go to Settings, then Comments just below it, first line says Show - Hide. Have you got Show ticked, because you should have.

  10. oh my - I feel so old now !

I've done a second lot of yoghurt in the slow cooker, it's turning out really well, I want to try PP's suggestion about freezing it for ice cream.
I haven't started on my excercise 'beast' yet, I'm still fighting off a heavy head cold, I don't go to the doctor with colds and stuff, everyone knows they just have to work their way through, just plenty of fluids, rest, etc., light meals and painkillers if necessary.
I really get angry at people who go to the doctors just because they get a little 'sniff' - wasting doctors time !
Anyway MQ, do you have to have a TV licence to watch programmes on the computer ? a friend of mine said she was thinking of doing without her TV and watching on the computer but she had been told she still would have to have a licence, in which case she was going to keep the set !!

  11. Good morning Wean. No you do not have to have a TV licence to watch programmes on the catch up web sites, ITV Player, 4oD, and BBC iplayer. BUT you must watch them after they have gone out live on the TV, NOT as they are being broadcast. This means you are watching a recording of a programme. I'm not sure how they could tell the difference though because the signal is coming through the phone line and not the aerial, but best to stick to the law, and not watch live. I sometimes watch Coronation Street an hour after it has finished on the TV, BBC are a bit slower at get their programmes on their web site.

We've taken to listening to '4 extra' on the radio, lots of old stuff on there.

  13. Well I think I may consider getting rid of my set too then, I only watch on the computer anyway, as and when I can - thanks for that.

  14. Taking me back. I remember Black Beauty and Bonanza, but my mam would remember quite a few of these. She used to watch Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars I think was another one. I liked Little House on the Prairie too. You made me laugh when you said about Jodie Marsh, an article somewhere referred to her as looking like a Curly Wurly now that she is all muscle bound and brown, couldn't imagine you looking like a Curly Wurly. ;-) Good on you getting going on that cross trainer. You'll have buns of steel in no time. Good Luck with it all, look forward to hearing how you get on with it in the weeks and months to come. Cheers, Christy.

  15. Well, Ilona...I've done it all. Went to forum help, got some tips similar to yours...NADA. Installed a free chatbox on side bar. Which honestly, I don't expect many will use. So....will sharpen my writing skills and wait this out a bit. Perhaps give it until Easter (April 8th). If no improvement, will move the blog. Bizarre. Very bizzare.

  16. I don't think they're available anywhere now, but how about going back even further into TV history and memory and pulling up Andy Pandy, and Bill and Ben, the flower pot men, and the Mumblies (Bumblies?), and Muffin the Mule? Congratulations, by the way, on your new piece of torture equipment. I love your postings and pix. You brighten my day.

  17. Sylvia Peters !!
The first TV presenter I remember, very posh and 'plum in the mouth' all dressed up in evening dress -
and the first TV advert I remember - Colgate toothpaste !
I can still sing the whole song for the advert for Hartleys Garden Peas !! not that you'd want me too !
And the first programme i saw on colour TV was ......... and nothing racist intended here ..... but it really was ..... The Black and Minstal Show !!
    Oh my ....

This could go on forever ....

  18. More memories. I was in love with Little Joe. He's probably about 90 by now! Did you watch Gilliagan's Isle? It was on around 6 or 6.30ish.

  19. Oh Follyfoot Farm!!! I used to love that series, seeing myself as Dora riding over the fields and ignoring the fact that I lived in a flat in Germany.Apart from Bonanza we didnt get the other series but I have to confess I had a crush on Little Joe ;) oh, and I have to confess that I have been an avid reader of your blog ( yes, I read every single post), thoroughly enjoyed myself and thank you so much for the great tips. Much Love, Maria from Kent

  20. I was not too impressed with soya yogurt either Ilona. I think I chucked mine away. I found the best result is with full fat UHT.

  21. I would like to say these programs were before my time but I'd be lying, hahaha! Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog, I feel highly honoured.

  22. Only just found your blog and used up soooo much time reading it. Bonanza! I have had a lifetime love affair with Adam (Pernell Roberts) and in my daydreams he is still the same as he was in those days - handsome, softly-spoken, sensitive, caring, strong, ooooohhhhh I might be exaggerating his gorgeous qualities, but I have 'known' him for many, many years and love him just as much. sigh
