Walking Group check in time. 1st July

Hello. Breakfast on a Saturday morning and I have just scoffed this. Munching my way through the fruit I bought on yellow stickers. Strawberries and blueberries. Bananas (not YS) but must be eaten. Underneath a few Bran Flakes, linseeds, pumpkin seeds, sultanas, walnuts, and porridge oats. A big bowl full, probably too much but what the heck, all good stuff.
It's the first of July so time for the Walking Group to check in with their mileage. I have a confession to make, I have missed a few days, I know, excuses excuses, excuses. It was too hot, it was raining, and I had to work on the Summer House and garden. Will try to do better this month.

My total is 613 miles, I am ahead of the 500 miles for half a year, so I'm not too bothered. There is a thread on the MSE Forum, in the fitness section, where people have taken on the challenge of walking 2000 miles. I have declined to join them, as it is a step too far for me. Not that I couldn't do it, but my time is divided between several activities, and with only 24 hours in a day, I have the balance just right sticking to the 1000 miles. Anything more than that will be a bonus. So, lets have it from the Walkers, how many miles are you up to at the six months mark? You might not want to do the 1000 miles, but try your best to do as much as you can. Every step helps to keep you fit and healthy.

Just had to break off for an hour to take Bailey poodle a walk, back now. It's warm and dry outside thank goodness. Enjoy your Saturday, we'll catch up soon.

  7. Gee, I looked back and saw I hadn't posted since March. Weird because I though I had... Any way the numbers areApril 110, May 115, June 115. So YTD is 578. I walk everyday. As a matter of fact I have walked 1,490 days which is 4 years and 1 month. If you're interested in reading this I post on my blog. Plus I go to the gym and walk on the treadmill as well. Cheers!

  9. Unfortunately life has been a bit difficult over the last couple of months and I have only managed about 65.5 miles for the whole of May and June, making a total for the year so far of 519 miles. Good job I was well ahead earlier on! I'm hoping for a better total in July. Vicki in East Yorkshire

  11. Hi Ilona, two excuses for me this month, first is a four day vacation, second is the high temperatures here in Arizona...so while my month was less than 60, it brings my year to date to 558. Like you, I am happy to be more than halfway, and a huge amount more than last year. Thanks again for organizing us ;)

I must admit I was aiming for 600 and getting rather obsessed so thanks Ilona for your common sense comments which put everything in it's proper place.
I want to do several other activities including gardening and can't fit it all in if I'm not careful with my time. Well done everyone. Sue

  31. Greetings from Spain Ilona. Sorry about the late check-in for Wences due to us having just returned from a short holiday. Wences managed 259 miles during June bringing his total to 1.297. We visited his home town of Boñar where his walking branched into mountain climbing, his first love of many years.

  32. Just realised that I hadn't logged my miles for June. I had a total of 93-onwards and upwards!
