Aye up me ducks. It's coming along. I took this to the Coffee Morning this morning. I sit stitching, and they sit chatting.
We've had more rain today. I went to the Post office in the next village to pay my utilities bill. Quite a lot less than the previous three months. Thank goodness that we don't need to put the heating on. I had another letter from the TV licensing people. It's only three months since the last one, which I ignored. They sent a reminder that I haven't contacted them. I shall ignore this one as well. I'm fed up with them hassling me. They are desperate for money, well they ain't having anything off me.
I've got a plumber coming in the morning. The downstairs loo won't flush, it needs a new innards in the cistern. This is a different plumber because I am fed up of chasing the usual one up. He says he will come, but then doesn't turn up. Mr Paul lives two doors down so that is convenient.
I'll cut you loose. Thanks for popping in. See ya tomorrow.
Good luck with the Plummer - we gave up trying to find one and ended up replacing the cistern inlet valve and washer on flush assembly ourselves. Turned out to be strait forward once we worked out how to access the various fixing nuts/screws.
ReplyDeleteHe will be here in fifteen minutes. Hopefully. I can do some DIY jobs but not where water or electricity is involved. Schools need to be pushing manual jobs like bricklaying, plastering, and plumbing. Not filling their heads with computer sciences. It won't happen though because kids can make a lot more money by pushing out Ticktocks. It's the way of the world.
DeleteI suspect that tradesmen (and women) will be able to command a premium as there are so few being trained.
DeleteMr Paul the plumber came with the part needed to rectify the problem. Only he couldn't fit it, because the ancient cistern will have to be scrapped and a brand new one installed. The toilet is as old as the house, about 70 odd years, so it is understandable that it is now non functioning. If the proposed housebuilding goes ahead like Starmer says it will, there will be a need for more plumbers. Anyone who trains now should have a good chance of finding work.
