Beautiful

Just happened to see this tonight. I found a parcel at my front door that wasn't mine. I delivered it to a lady up the street. I often get her mail, the address is similar only she lives in a bungalow and I don't. I saw the sun going down between the houses opposite. Quick get the camera. The trees are a good distance a way. Snapping away before it disappears. Two out of ten aint bad.

Burnby Hall. The Stumpery.

Let's have a look at The Stumpery. It's a dumping ground for tree stumps. They are arranged artistically in a circle, and planted up with ferns and flowers.
Time to move on from Burnby Hall, and have a look at the town of Pocklington. First take a look at the church.
This door looks like it could be the main entrance, but the sign says it's around the front.

I do like the peacefulness of a church.
The Feathers is a pub I stayed at a few years ago when passing through the town on a long walk.
Pocklington is a lovely town, full of independent shops.
The Methodist Church with a modern front.
At this point I decided to go in search of the canal. It was a long straight road. The Canal Head is just off the A1079. I'll post some pics of the canal tomorrow.
Thanks for popping in. Have a nice Sunday.   ilona

Burnby Hall. The fish pond

This is the map they give out when you visit Burnby Hall. Everything you need to know. There is no one way system, you can walk anywhere.
The Hall is just outside the entrance to the gardens. It isn't open to the public, it is mainly council offices and function rooms.

The area around the Dovecote is fenced off because of the bird flu incidents.
Large metal sculptures beside the pond.
The cafeteria and gift shop.
If you walk around the edge of the pond the fish follow you, in anticipation of getting some food. There must be hundreds of them, if not thousands.
See if you can count how many there are. 😁
The sun is shining. I've eaten my lunch, a friend called in for a natter, and now I am off out for a walk. Thanks for popping in. Enjoy your weekend.  ilona

Topsyturvy

So let me get this right. If you are a bloke who says he is now a woman, and he becomes ill and gets admitted to a hospital, and they put him in an all female ward, he then rapes another patient, and the hospital says it never happened because they didn't have any men on the ward. This happened a year ago. Some CCTV film was found and it proved that he did indeed rape the woman. She has gone through hell because no one believed her.

How absolutely bonkers is that. My belief is that a person can't just say that from now on I identify as a woman/man, and half heartedly attempt to change their appearance by wearing different clothes. Cross dressing is fine by me, people can wear whatever clothes they like. If someone is seriously going to go through the whole caboodle of adopting their new identity they should be using the word Trans because that's what they are. Transitioning from one to the other.

If a man chooses not get his dick chopped off he is still biologically a man. He can call himself a transwoman if he likes, but he is not a woman.

You can read the story here.

"The hospital, with all its CCTV, has had to admit that the rape happened and that it was committed by a man.”

An investigation by police into the case is now under way.

What a topsyturvy world we live in. Have a nice weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

Burnby Hall. The Rock Garden

I had a lovely day out yesterday. Pocklington is a very nice town. First stop was Burnby Hall Gardens. The heathers are beautiful. They are in the middle of redesigning the Walled Garden so that isn't ready yet. There is a cafe, and a gift shop, and a really big lake full of fish.

Have a look at the video, walk around with me.
I will make another post tomorrow. There are more photo's and a couple more videos.

Pic of the day.

I've been out today. I went to Pocklington. Over the Humber Bridge, head for Market Weighton on the A1034, and turn left on the A1079 towards York. Turn right on the B1247. I have some photos and three videos to check, I'll post some of them tomorrow. In the meantime this one is from Burnby Hall Gardens.
Catch ya tomorrow. Toodle pip.   ilona

Popping in, briefly.

I am limiting my time on the computer at the moment. I know what's going on, and there is nothing I can do about it. The organised chaos will continue whether I read about it or not. I need to live my life, it's the only one I've got.
I am getting on with this. A bit more to do, add leaves on the tree and put a backing on it. Luckily I have a piece of the green baize left that is the right size.
Now going to do a Billy walk, and the computer will be switched off. We'll catch up whenever. Toodle pip.   ilona

Second hand is best.

This video came out of the oven late last night, too late to put it on the blog, I was tired and went to bed. It's about buying second hand and accepting freebies. And about the £200 we are going to get from the Government in October to help with the increase in utilities.
I don't need this, I don't want to be in debt to the Government to pay it back. They will add it onto the bills over the next four years at £50 a year. They are mincing their words and calling it a levy. Trying to fool us into thinking they are doing something to help us. Just like the jab, get it and help everybody. Not so. They could just help the people who are going to struggle with the increases. I have no truck with that.
Giving £200 to everybody is just another way to control the population. Get them roped in, put them into debt, get their bank account details and we are beholden to them forever. We are being herded like cattle. Our individual circumstances are of no interest to the Government. Makes me want to go off grid.
EDIT. A short video from Mr Farage about the rip off energy bills.
A link to the OFGEN web site which details where our money is going to. 25% of every electricity bill is going on green subsidies and environmental expenditure.

I took advantage of the mild and dry day yesterday, and combined two of my local walks to make seven miles. I had someone from the village to chat to for part of the way, he branched off to go back home. Walking is new to him, so he was taking it easy.
I had a stroll in the park to see the daffs.
The gardens at the back of the Hall look neat and tidy.

I was surprised to see the Gift Shop still open at almost five o clock. I think they must have moved onto summer opening times.

The sun going down on the last leg across the fields.

Looks like a nice day today, and I have things to do, I'll cut you loose.
Bye for now.  ilona

Smile Mayze.

Saturday night girls night in, we are watching the tele. Camping videos are fun. How to put a tent up in six feet of snow.
It's cold outside, but we are snuggy warm in here. We like to cuddle up together.

Enjoy your Sunday. ilona and Mayze

Walking through Wallingwells Wood

I've just got this out of the oven, it's been cooking all afternoon. From the walk yesterday at Carlton in Lindrick.
Nothing exciting happened today. Did a load of washing, changed the bed covers. Didn't go out, it started raining. Working on the weaving picture. Just eaten mushrooms, courgettes, and spinach on a slice of bread, couldn't be bothered to toast it, for my dinner.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

A walk around Carlton in Lindrick

A few piccies from yesterday. I only did 7.5 miles, due to me chatting with strangers. I parked at the church at Carlton in Lindrick, not far from Worksop. It is a quick hop skip and a jump down the motorway for me. Go down the A1 to Blyth then cut across the minor roads to Carlton. It is a massive church at South Carlton. Had to whittle my many photo's down to these few.

YAY the daffs are coming. Spring is here.
There are many old and gnarled trees in the churchyard.

There are hundreds of gravestones, all very neat and kept tidy. I think they may have extended it into an extra space behind the church.

I set off down a footpath opposite the church. It wasn't long before I came across a man walking his two dogs. I always chat with dog people, they are usually very friendly. Almost an hour later we said our goodbye's. It was great to have a conversation with someone who is on the same wavelength, if you know what I mean. The words flowed.
I walked through Wallingwells wood and came out the other side into a field. There are lots of bridleways in this area because there are lots of horses. I got a little confused with the paths at that point, and found myself walking through Home House Farm, which is not strictly a designated through route. It was a massive place, an equestrian centre with a field set out with jumps for horses. There were hundreds of parked vehicles, horse boxes, trailers, vans and mini buses. And huge warehouses. A lorry was getting unloaded. I quickly walked through the yard and hoped nobody noticed. Out the other side through the main gate, I picked up a footpath sign.
Lots of open spaces. The weather was warmish with a slight breeze. Ideal.

By this time I was getting hungry, time to get out the cheese and cucumber sandwich. I sat on a low brick wall outside a cottage. The horses opposite were very curious. Who is this stranger.
I turned round to find a couple of horses looking over the fence, almost breathing down my neck. I'm sure this one is smiling.

Onward I went. I came to a road and turned left and came into the village of Woodsetts. There is a sign on the front of the pub saying they are looking for new managers.

Opposite the pub, on the crossroads is this church. It doesn't look very pretty from the front view, but go round the back and it looks lovely.
A very unusual door at the entrance.

The date on this plaque caught my eye. 1918 the year of my mothers birth. Maybe this is a sign she is watching me. Can you see me mother.

It was a very nice walk from Woodsetts back to Carlton. Along the way I met another dog walker. Another very nice chat. We were talking about how exercise and walking outside is good for the body and the mind. He is a psychotherapist. It was good to confirm that I am doing the right thing.
I just made it back to the car with the daylight fading fast. I could see the church from across the fields. No need to get the torch out to find the way.

The cats were ready for me when I got back at 7.30pm. First job, feed them.
Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Have a good weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

Quick hello and goodnight

I've had a smashing walk today. I parked at Carlton in Lindrick a few miles north of Worksop and did 7.5 miles. I've sorted the photo's out but it's too late to put them on the blog now. I'll do it tomorrow. It was dark when I got back to the car. I do like a nice floodlit church.
Off to bed. Goodnight. Catch ya tomorrow.  ilona

Liquid gold

Nothing is safe these days. Nail down your possessions. Lock your doors. Watch over your animals 24/7. Leave nothing to chance. Desperate times means everything is a target for theft. Now it's diesel. Lorries are being targeted for their fuel, tanks are being drilled to empty them. Depot's are being broken into overnight.

Truck & Driver@TrucknDriver·With the huge increase in the price of fuel, there's obviously going to be a huge increase in thieving vermin. This is a list of places where thefts have been noted.

The Scumbags have upped the anti, 16000 litres nicked last night from a local haulage company in Newcastle, like liquid gold now and just going to get worse
An astonishing 16000 litres of diesel stolen in Newcastle upon Tyne. Worrying. That's organised crime, wonder where the fuel goes. How long would that take to pump into IBCs?
The truck is a DAF CF 4X2 Space can, looks like quite an early model.

It looks like it is going to be a sunny day today. I need to be outside. We'll catch up later. Toodle pip. ilona

One and two

That's me sorted then. Two buckets, for a number one and a number two.
The small bucket is not strong enough to hold my weight. Ok for a hover but not to sit on it. I looked in my kitchen cupboards to find something more sturdy. I have a Tupperware mixing bowl with a smooth flat rim. That will do the job. I haven't mixed anything in it for years, lots of years. I am unlikely to ever mix in it again. It now has another use.
They both have plastic lids, one cut from a chocolate box lid, and the other cut from a square plastic box lid. I made elasticated mop caps to keep them in place.
These are for emergency use in the car. If I go on a camp site for several days I can put my tent up and use the portapotti. If I am moving around to several places I won't put the tent up.
Another sunny day today. I took Billy a walk around the pond. He likes going there. We met several other walkers and their dogs.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

Going going gone

The Online Safety Bill is making it's way through Parliament. The last two years has seen free speech suffocated in many areas. The Online Safety Bill will make that far worse. The Bill will require social media companies to remove content. They are already doing that now. Another one bites the dust. One down, a million more to go.

A legal analysis has been compiled, a document setting out all aspects of this Bill. If you are interested you can read it here.
If this goes through it will have far reaching consequences. Controlling what comes out of people's mouths, whether verbally or the written word, is the start of the move from democracy to a totalitarian regime. Ask yourself, is that what you want. Are you happy not being able to question anything? Are you happy to go along with whatever is asked of you, even though you know it is morally wrong? Would you rather I go away and shut the fuck up?
I will leave you with that thought. Time for breakfast. Toodle pip.   ilona
