Christmas Eve.

Managed to get in at the Doctors this morning, ribs still painful so I thought it best to get checked out.  I don't like running to the Doctors for every little mishap. Nothing broken, just bruised, she advised to take paracetamol to eliminate the pain so I can breath more easily. Hopefully it will begin to heal itself in a few days.

After lunch I have to collect a few things for my friend, from her house, and visit her in the care home. She has been there for two weeks, and is staying another week, then she should be able to go back to her house if the carers can be arranged.

It's a sunny day, but not so warm, still need wrapping up when outside. I have 20 miles of walking left to do and eight days to do it. Looking like I will make the 1000.

I hope all your plans will come to fruition and you will be where you want to be over this Christmas period. I am happy to be with my fur babies.  Merry Christmas to you all.  ilona

  2. I'm glad you've not broken a rib - though badly bruising them is bad enough. I hope the painkillers work (if not, then a glass of wine probably would!!)

Enjoy your walking - great time to catch up over the Christmas period.

  7. Oh ribs are pain full.I broke mine about 23 years ago and was in so much pain. The hospital couldnt do anything but strap me up and told me to take painkillers.Do you find that every time you stand up,you make a gasping sound? Thats how it was for me and only time and rest will heal bruised or cracked ribs,so take it easy if you can!Maybe if you cant make your walking target,it doesnt matter. You can make it up in the new year..best to get those ribs well first!Wishing you and your fur babies all the best,Love from Debi,xx

  10. Sometimes they have to x ray to see for sure I've heard,so if it does worsen it might be good to get one- but even with a cracked rib they repair themselves most times.I popped into tesco at midday for fish and chicken for the dogs and got some cheap salad and chopped veg for lazy soup- think it was too early.Been for an hours muddy dog walk with my active81 yr uncle earlier. Now chilling out with my 3 listening to classic fm - not much else-it's great xx

Light dusting of snow started this morning, so it could be a whitish Christmas day. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and prosperous New Year.

  12. Glad nothing is broken, Ilona!

I baked on Saturday and delivered the results yesterday. Our solos group--individuals, couples and small families without family or close friends in the area--is gathering tomorrow. My contribution this year is cookies, as I am staying home. Chocolate chip, iced cut-outs, coconut macaroons and pecan balls. Individual bags to take home, plus a large platter. I like people, but I really need a break from them at times! ;-)

Wishing you and your fur babies a lovely day. Hope Oscar shares your favourite chair with you! lol

Was just eyeballed this. Auto-correct changed "fur babies" to "furniture babes"! ??? !!! Final results could be interesting! ;-)

  17. Merry xmas Ilona to you and your fur babies from my home in Ireland to yours. I hope you recover soon and are not too sore, I had a fall earlier in the year which resulted in bruised ribs but rest and some pain killers helped. Not in to xmas and new years eve either but will make the best of it and avoiding shops unless for essentials till the madness is over. Love and light Linda x

  19. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and especially a really good new year. I banged my ribs several years ago, falling on a cement pot, and although ribs not broken, it seemed to take months before I did not feel any pain from them.

  20. I seem to have missed a post, didn't know you had hurt yourself . So sorry to hear that. I do hope you are feeling a little better, ribs less painful, breathing easier. Enjoy time with your furry friends, definitely a glass -or two- of wine. Tasty food and perhaps a good book or programme on you iPad? Happy Christmas. I do enjoy your blog. I have a FitBit and try to walk as much as possible - some weeeks better than others, weather and health permitting.

  31. Dear Ilona, your NHS website has an excellent article on bruised or broken ribs, worthwhile having a look, I did when I bruised my ribs here in Oz because I have a DIL who is a nurse and comes from the UK. Good info on there, especially as you, like myself, do not like going to the doctors.

  32. What has happened llona ? I haven't had time to trawl through for a couple of days, it seems you have had an accident ? did you have a fall ? sorry to hear that, hope the pain subsides soon.

    1. Keep up. Briefly mentioned in a previous post.

I've been going into my friends house and feeding her fish while she is away. Came a cropper, tripped over one of the many plant pots around her garden. Went sprawling, bashed my shoulder and ribs, ouch. Sore for a day or two but getting better now.

I didn't make a big thing of it because I can't be doing with all the tea and sympathy. I know people mean well and are concerned about my welfare, but hey, I just get on with life.

    2. No time to 'keep up' MQ ! I'm usually meeting myself coming back so don't have time to read each and every post, however just saw you had been injured and enquired after your health.
