Bimbling around Ludborough

This is a picture of St Mary's Church in Ludborough, Lincolnshire. It's where I parked the car yesterday. It was built in 1200AD. The tower is of sandstone construction. Here is some additional information

I set off down a track through the middle of a yellow field. The smell was divine. At the main A18 road I crossed over and followed a tree lined avenue to Wyham.

A car and trailer pulled into the field I was passing. Two men opened up the back of the trailer and a mummy cow came out of it with her calf. All the other cows in the field gathered around the vehicle to greet the newcomers. Aren't they gorgeous.

There is a church at Wyham. I spoke to a man who was strimming the grass nearby. He said this church was made redundant in 1982. The current owners live in Wyham House nearby. The man said there is nothing in the church. The owners daughter got married there and a team of workers set about cleaning it up for the ceremony.

Some lovely views across the Lincolnshire Wolds.

The walk was mostly along footpaths and bridleways, with very little road walking. This is Cadeby Hall. Two dogs came running across the lawn towards me, barking like crazy. They were fine, probably not used to seeing strangers passing through.

Two pictures of the same tree here. This one has a touch of zoom. The next one has a lot of zoom. I couldn't decide which one I like best. The sky looks better in this one.
The sky is lost on this one, but the shape of the tree is lovely.

One more selfie. It was windy, but also warm.

When I got back to the car I made time to go and have a look at the railway station. It is not in the village, but a walk down a long road. I am glad I went, even though I was ready for a sit down. I left the backpack in the car and off I went with just the camera. I will put those pictures up tomorrow.
Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.

Sensitive subject

There are people who think I write posts just for them. If I don't cover the subjects they want to read about, they have the option of reading someone else's blog. Plenty more out there to choose from. Am I bothered that readers desert me? No of course not. As I always say, you do what you like, I'll do what I like. The choice is yours. Maybe I should include a warning in the title if the post is deemed to contain a sensitive subject. That would save anyone from ending up here accidentally.

So off we go, what shall I write about now? Be careful, there are those who are not gonna like this. Maybe pop back later when the dust has settled.

In February a group of international lawyers and a judge conducted a criminal investigation modelled on the United States Grand Jury proceedings in order to present to the public all available evidence of Covid 19 Crimes Against Humanity. There is a list of six days of evidence on this web site. The videos can be seen on Odysee. The opening statements can be viewed on this link.  The videos are up to three hours long and present a wide selection of experts in their own field.

The Covid thing will rumble on and on, as they push out more jabs. They have lied all the way through it, and will continue to do so. Arm yourself with as much information as you can, then you can make your own decisions.

Don't forget that this is not the end game. Our future lies in the hands of the WEF. Dr Robert Malone has put together a complete list of WEF Graduates with over 3800 names, going back to the beginning. If you are unsure about what the WEF is, check out the Malone Institute web site. Plenty of rabbit holes to go down here, if you feel so inclined.

The WEF have a programme of training up, or grooming if you like, young people ready to take over from when the oldies keel over. They are not going to let years of work go to waste. Read about Young Global Leaders of the future.

There you go. I think that's enough to be going on with. Now where are those photo's I have to sort out from yesterday's walk. I'll be back later. Toodle pip.   ilona

Hello and Goodnight

Just popping in, it's late. Another day out today. This time I went south into the Lincolnshire Wolds. I'll write up the post tomorrow.

Time for bed. Goodnight.   ilona

Art from Germany

There is a new exhibition at the 20 21 Arts Centre. I went along on Saturday to meet the people who brought it here. It's a collection from ten different artists who live in and around Luneburg in Germany. It is an exchange visit, Scunthorpe is twinned with Luneburg. My mother often told me about the holidays she had at Luneburg Heath.
The curator told us about the artists who had contributed to this exhibition. Some of the exhibits were not particularly appealing to me, but a few of them I found interesting.

A collage of pictures, with additional painting.

A lot of planning and painting in this geometric design.

This I think are stacks of painted cardboard discs. The construction is interesting to me.

Collages of mixed up faces and bodies. Weird but fascinating.

This is what happens when you carry on smoking. A colourful ceramic piece.

I had a lovely chat with another visitor. He paints pictures and had his work in the Open Exhibition. More info about this exhibition is on the 20 21 web site.

Now I must go out. It is sunny and I don't want to stay indoors. Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

Welcome back

Good morning. It's sunny and I should be getting ready to go out. I will quickly bash this one off and hope it makes sense.

The gates are now open for anyone to comment. It's been a while since I closed them and changed the settings to Gooooglie accounts only. Sadly a lot of genuine people were locked out also. I had to do it because the volume of trolls was becoming too much. There are people out there who would love to derail this blog and see me gone.

Yes, the comments slowed up, which gave me a much needed breathing space. The space has been filled with my yoootooob channel, which by some miracle does not attract many trolls. I moderate the comments there as well.

Just to clear something up, what is my definition of a troll? Someone who nitpicks through everything I say, even going back years, just to disrupt the flow of the blog. They thrive on sending negative comments to put me and others down, because it makes them feel good about themselves.

There are bloggers who have totally different lifestyles and opinions to me. I may read them or I may not. Some of them invite discussion, and I see heated conversations becoming quite personal. That is something I do not want here. Hence anyone who wants to foist their opinion on me need not bother to try. This is not an open forum.

I welcome comments from those who put their name to their words. I welcome happy positive comments. Yes, that may sound a bit biased, but I am biased towards a happy life.

Those who have been reading me for a long time know how I feel about freedom to do my own thing. They know that I don't go with the crowd, they know that I don't go along with the official narrative coming out of the MSM. So if that does not sit well with you, maybe it's best that you either don't come here, or ignore those posts which touch on those subjects.

There will be posts talking about the current situation. Knowing and understanding what is happening now is vital to the survival of the human race. The push for Globalisation is relentless and will affect everyone's life style. I cannot think of a more urgent topic which needs to be aired. We are in the middle of the biggest re distribution of wealth on the planet, the biggest land grab of all time. Remember, all food comes from the land. Those who control the land control the food. .

Anyway, I've waffled on enough. It's 10.40 on a Sunday morning. Enjoy your day, whatever you are doing. We'll catch up soon.

Blogger settings

I like many other bloggers are having problems with receiving comments. I have changed the settings from only allowing those with a Google account, to Anyone.

It has been suggested that the comments settings should be adjusted to a pop up page. I hate that and prefer them to be embedded on the actual blog post, so I have not changed that setting.

Can someone send me a comment on this please so I can check if it is working.

Thanks.   ilona

Thrifty OAP

This video is still floating around the yoootooob. It happened a few years ago, probably a lot of years ago. I remember a car and a van with four people coming to my house early one morning. I had to get up at 4am to make sure everything was in place for their arrival. The morning programme goes out early and we were live on it. All that prepping and it was over in a few minutes. I must say Katy Rickets was a lovely lady.
I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by a researcher for a TV programme about money saving. Now that it is of vital importance that people are aware of the price increases of just about everything, it is a strong talking point again.
We chatted on the phone, she asked me a lot of questions. Towards the end of the conversation she asked if I was on any benefits, like pension credits. I said no, I am not. She said she would have to consult with her producer, because the programme was to include people on benefits who are struggling to manage financially.
I don't come into that category, and I am not struggling to pay my bills. After all these years of being frugal and scrimping my way through life, I am at last in a good place. To look at my house you wouldn't think I was happy with my lot. The place hasn't been updated in many years. There are jobs that need doing. It could be improved with some modernising, and no doubt the next people to buy it will most likely rip it apart and start again.
The house has everything I need, it has all the basics, and is in a nice village. I don't want to live in a showhouse, this is comfortable enough for me.
The researcher didn't ring me back, which is a good thing. I know I have a lot of experience of living within my means. I have come through the sausage machine and out the other side. Now I am in a better place. All I could have said if I had been invited onto the programme was, it's all about priorities. It's knowing the difference between a need and a want. A lot of the money saving tips I have talked about in the past are common sense. They are not tricks, there is no magic wand. You stretch things out to last longer. You don't throw things away, you get maximum use out of them. If you think you need something, you probably don't.
My utilities company has asked for a meter reading, so I expect a horror bill will drop through my door in a few days time. I have money to pay for it, whatever it is.
Thanks for popping in. Have a nice weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

Pollington and Sykehouse. A bimble

So where was I yesterday? The village of Pollington is not far from Thorne, and close to the M62. As you know I do like villages and open spaces, of which there are an abundance within an hours drive from my home.  I found a parking space at the Village Hall, next to the kids playground. There is an information board with a useful map so I could pinpoint my exact location.

I then set off down the road and turned right which took me to a bridge over the Aire and Calder Navigation Canal.

I am not sure how I got a hill in the background of this photo. It is all very flat around here.
I saw several signposts for the Trans Pennine Trail.

Next I crossed the River Went at Topham Bridge.

This way or that way. Follow the signs.
I came into the village of Sykehouse. Have a look at the Parish website for more information.

There is a small picnic area opposite the church where I sat for a while eating my cheese and peanut butter sandwich.

I took a track opposite the church along the edge of the fields. Two bulls spotted me. Thank goodness they were completely enclosed in their field, separated by a fence with barbed wire between us. The track itself was so overgrown I found myself wading through waist high brambles and nettles and thistles. There was no going back. I was not going to turn round and walk past the bulls again. I came to a bridge crossing the New Junction Canal.
As the land is very flat around these parts there are very few locks.

Look at the size of this canal side cottage. It is called Lock Bridge House.
Guess what, it's for sale. It was put on the market in December 2021 for 2.5 million. Take a look at Right Move. Scroll through the pictures, and click on the Virtual Tour video. Some great drone footage there. You will be gobsmacked. How the other half live eh! It is stunning.

I walked along the canal for a while and came to Kirk Lane Bridge.

Then I carried on further and came to Sykehouse Road Bridge.

I then took the road and tracks back to Topham Bridge. This took me past the Windmill House for the second time.
From what I could see it looks amazing. I would love to climb to the top for the views. As luck would have it I came across a dog walker. She had two lovely brown, can't remember the breed, big dogs. I stopped to ask her about the dogs because we have one similar here in our village. On the spur of the moment I asked her if she lived in the windmill, and I was amazed, she said she did. I asked her more questions. It was bought in the 1970's by a family member, as a derelict property. He did it up. Then she inherited it, and she did it up again in the 1990's. She said it has it's problems and is not all good. It is on a flood plain so the insurance is high. The Council Tax is also high. But she loves living there. It was good to get a bit of background info on it.

Once over Topham Bridge I walked alongside the river Went for a while, through a field of grazing sheep. I was looking for a different track back to Pollington. Somehow I missed it. It was not where it was supposed to be, probably because a field of Oilseed Rape was planted over it. I walked along field edges in the direction I wanted to go, and came across two men working on some farm equipment. They pointed me in the right direction. Eventually I came out on a road, and once again crossed the New Junction Canal as I came into Pollington.

The first moving boat I have seen. Coming into the lock.

Pollington Bridge, almost back now. Shooting into the sun which is behind the clouds gives it a dusk appearance. It was 6.30pm and still light.

Back at home for 7.30pm. Nine miles walked today. I was greeted by cats wanting some food. It was a nice day out. I must have another one soon, in a different place. So much to see, and so little time.

Taster pic

I went for a ride out today to a new area. I found lots of footpaths which when joined up looked like a decent walk. Nine miles is a decent walk. It's too late to start writing the post now, so I'll drop this pic in here, and give you the lowdown tomorrow.

Catch ya tomorrow. Toodle pip.

You're having a laugh.

Sky News is good for a laugh. They report that people are urged to drop online passwords altogether in a bid to foil hackers. People and businesses need to move over to other technology to protect personal information from hackers, a cybersecurity expert has said. Don't make me bloody laugh. Who are the biggest hackers out there? The Governments, Big Tech, Big Pharma, and the C Commy Party.

Then there are the crooks and criminals who endeavor to fleece us all of our assets. The scammers who want to rob our bank accounts. Oh, I forgot, the biggest fleecers are those who harvest all of our data and compile it into lists. Namely those I mentioned above. Control is the name of the game.

So what do we do? Give them as much information as they ask for? Buy everything online with a card? Collect apps for everything, entrance to places, send our banking information to anyone who asks for it? Flash our fancy phones over a data collecting device? Become a slave to the QR codes displayed at the entrance of more and more places? Ask permission to enter with a quick flash of the gadget?

He (the expert) called on the industry to move to other forms of log-in such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) - where users must provide an additional layer of identification to log in - or biometrics such as face or fingerprint scans to improve the general safety of personal data.

Small time hackers are just a piss in the ocean compared to the legal rape of our freedoms. You might as well hand over your brain on a plate. Here you go, take it, I am done with it. Just give me a chip under the skin then you can follow me around forever. Watch where all this is going.

I'm going out. Toodle pip.   ilona

Free food in the woods

After the bluebells we have the wild garlic. I took a few snaps yesterday while out on my walk. The wood was stunningly beautiful, and had a garlicky smell which was divine.

I had to make a video of it.
Now I must go and walk Billy dog. He will be waiting for me.
Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

A chat on the bench.

I've been a walk today, that's another five miles. Here is a video from yesterdays walk.
I might go shopping tonight, but not sure if I can be bothered. I will decide in the next half an hour. It's still light so I will do a bit of tidying up in the garden. Or I might check the photographs and the video I made today. Decisions decisions.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.  ilona

New skip dive.

What is this? Something from outer space, maybe dropped off a satellite? Nope, it's from a chandelier I recovered out of a skip last week. There were two of them, I gave Angela one to play with.

I removed all the glass and cleaned it up. Hmmm, looking interesting.

150 pieces of glass, with a hole at one end for hanging, and a hole straight through the middle vertically.
These could be hung in trees for sparkly decorations. Several could be hung together as wind catchers, they would make a soothing tinkling sound.

They will probably be in my spare room storage facility until I come up with a few ideas. If I haven't done anything with them for a year, I might give them away. Some of my arty crafty materials I have had for a long time. Maybe too long.

I've just had a cooked breakfast. I'm running a bit low on fresh ingredients so I will have to go shopping either tonight or tomorrow night. Today I spiralized half a courgette, added some ready cooked noodles, and an egg, sprinkled it with grated cheese, and had it on toast. Very nice it was too.

Update on the cat with a sore neck. He is doing well. Comes twice a day for a scoff so he is getting the anti biotics down him. His scab is shrinking and will soon drop off as the new skin grows underneath.

Update on the hedgehogs. They are still coming every night, and I am finding poo on the lawn. Hopefully they will be well fed in time for the winter hibernation.

Sink or swim.

I made this video a couple of weeks ago, only just got it downloaded. Talking about water. Why I never learnt how to swim.
The pussy with the poorly neck is making good progress. He eats the food with the anti biotics mixed in with it. The sore spot is healing nicely.
I did a local seven mile walk today. Got chatting with a nice lady, her dog is gorgeous.
It has been threatening rain, and it did try a little bit. It was only a sprinkle.
Lunch today was a potato in the microwave and some beetroot.
Now I carry on with some sewing.

Walking Group check in.

Good morning. It's a Bank Holiday Weekend and it's raining here. There are lots of events taking place today and tomorrow around the country, so I hope people are able to get out and enjoy them. There is a boot sale in the next village which I was planning on going to. I doubt people will set up in the rain. It might ease off by 10am. I will make the decision whether to go or not then.

As it usually happens on the first of the month, it's check in time for the International Walking Group. How are you all doing? The target is 334 miles for the first four months of the year. I have just scraped in with 338 miles. Phew that was close. Oh dear, I had ten no walking days, that isn't good enough, but I did make up for it on other days when I did more.

Are you keeping to the 1000 mile target? Or have you your own targets? And are you managing to keep up with that? Let is know in the comments box.

Some of my random photo's from the archives. Can you guess what they are?

Over to you. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona
