Walking Group check in.

Good morning. It's a Bank Holiday Weekend and it's raining here. There are lots of events taking place today and tomorrow around the country, so I hope people are able to get out and enjoy them. There is a boot sale in the next village which I was planning on going to. I doubt people will set up in the rain. It might ease off by 10am. I will make the decision whether to go or not then.

As it usually happens on the first of the month, it's check in time for the International Walking Group. How are you all doing? The target is 334 miles for the first four months of the year. I have just scraped in with 338 miles. Phew that was close. Oh dear, I had ten no walking days, that isn't good enough, but I did make up for it on other days when I did more.

Are you keeping to the 1000 mile target? Or have you your own targets? And are you managing to keep up with that? Let is know in the comments box.

Some of my random photo's from the archives. Can you guess what they are?

Over to you. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

  2. Hi Ilona,
Enjoy your bank holiday. We survived King's Day on the 27th of April, which was after 2 years quite a big happening again.
April month I managed 155 miles, total for 4 months now 387.

    1. Hello guusje. Bank Holidays are busy times here, lots of events taking place. I think it's best to stay at home to miss the chaos on the roads. Excellent miles. well done.

  3. Hello Ilona, In April I cycled a total of 372 kilometres and after the sacrum nerve block from last Tuesday at the pain clinic I already enjoyed a little walk over 2 kilometres. Now dreaming of walking like before......whilst I have to see and wait for another six weeks if and how much the block has been effective.
Cheers from sunny Dokkum in The Netherlands.

    1. Hello Jeanneke. A mixture of cycling and walking seems to be doing the trick for you. I hope the block works for you.

  5. Hi Ilona, My goal is still 1,000 miles. So far I'm short, but the year is young. For April, I walked 73 miles. My total so far is 295. I was uninspired this past month to focus on tallying miles. If it wasn't for my sweet little pitbull who insists on her morning walk, I wouldn't have done 73-most of that was because of her.
I like your pictures. The first one looks like old telephone cords. The second one looks like slinkys. That's all I got!

    1. Hello Leslie. Slightly below for this target, but you will easily catch up over the coming months. Yes, one of them is slinkys. Not quite telephone cords, they are brand new curly leads which I used when making headphones for a metal detecting company.

  6. 283 so far this year for me, Ilona. Hoping to do 3 miles a day now that the weather is getting better. I hate the cold but don't mind being out in the rain!

    Hi Ilona,
Tried on my computer and iPad to log in. Kept saying I needed to log in using Google, but I was logged in. Not sure if anyone else had that issue. There were eight comments yesterday when I started trying, and still eight this am, so others might be having trouble too. Sigh. Then again, i am not a tech whiz 🙂

For the walking group update, I did another 63, bringing year to date to 233. Here in the Arizona desert, it is fantastically beautiful, highs are approaching 100 by afternoon yet the early mornings are fine. May heats up quite a bit here, so I have to get up and outside early in the day ;). In the summer, the dog and I leave for a walk a bit after 5 am, in the winter, it is closer to 7:30.

Best to you and all the group, happy May! My favorite month ;). Thank you again for your walking group efforts, it is a lovely feeling to think this crowd wandering around the world and then checking back in.

    1. Thank you Hilly. I think others are having similar problems with logging in. I can't offer any help with that.

  8. What were those things in the photos, Ilona? I could only guess that the third one was coloured pencils, the rest are a complete mystery. H x
