Just checking

Getting a tyre checked this morning. 9.30 appointment. The nearside front tyre loses pressure over a period of 3 - 4 months. I always go back to my garage and get them to check the tyres. I am too lazy to do it myself. I used to years ago. I learnt how to change a wheel when I had my first vehicle, it was a beat up old van. I did an evening class at college for car maintenance. We got to take our own vehicles into the workshop and practice small jobs like checking plugs and points, and taking a wheel off. Now if I break down I just call the RAC. It hasn't happened for the last few years because I buy the best I can afford, and make sure the car is serviced and if any jobs need doing I get them done.
I have a young apprentice this morning, getting instructions from the boss. First loosen the wheel nuts.
Then learn where the jacking point is.

Spray water over the tyre to see if any air bubbles come up. At that point I wandered about taking photo's. I took some extra shots so I can play around editing them on the computer.
No leak was found in the tyre or the valve so that's a mystery.
This afternoon I went a walk to the park. The sunshine had brought lots of families out. The playground was busy and people were having picnics on the grass.
Thanks for popping in. Enjoy your Sunday. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. If it's an alloy wheel I had a problem with slow air loss a few years ago with one, no puncture or valve leak, was eventually tracked down to the tyre not seated quite right on the rim, reseated and fine for another 7 years. According to the tyre fitter, he'd seen a few problems like that with alloys not sealing properly to the rims, but that was a while ago now.

    1. Thanks for that Will. I was rather hoping that they would take the tyre off the rim to check it, but they were busy and people were waiting, and the lad was learning the job.

  2. I once had that problem with a new tyre. Turned out to be a sticky label that hadn’t been removed when they fitted the tyre but it was enough to effect the tightness of the seal. H

    1. All my tyres were new a few months ago. I shall go back and ask for further investigation if it happens again.
