Trust in policing has been damaged. My government will rebuild it.
From next month, officers not fit to serve will be sacked.
Our Plan for Change will make our streets safe.
We're making it easier for police chiefs to dismiss officers who are unfit to serve.
Our Plan for Change will ensure that communities can trust the officers that serve them, and that the majority of brave, committed, officers are not undermined by their colleagues.
Who are you kidding mate. Why weren't their backgrounds checked before they were signed up? Who is going to carry out the sackings? Who is going to tell their colleagues to pack their bags and go? When the bad 'uns have gone, will there be anybody left with the balls to wade into mass disturbances in the streets. Who will be willing to put their lives on the line and risk getting stabbed, beaten up, or shot, by those who resist arrest? You will be sending police officers to war. Using innocent police officers as a cover up for your incompetence is cowardice. You play the blame game. Sack those who are not up to the job, because you say they undermine their colleagues. You are to blame Mr Starmer, you go out there and face the crowds. You go out there and stop the violence. Sending others to do your dirty work while you go swanning around arse licking your bosses. Just like the previous Governments. All the same.
Ilona.
Do you think police who failed vetting should be allowed to stay on the force?🤨
ReplyDeleteAnyone who is not competent at doing their job, in whatever profession they have chosen, should be offered extra training. They should be given a chance to up their game, to improve their skills, and become part of the team. The problem in the police force is that the rot comes from the top down. The chiefs are following orders. Big pay offs for early retirement is an incentive to hang on to their cushy numbers and not rock the boat. It's a numbers game. Too many chiefs, too many pen pushers, and not enough indians of the right calibre.
DeleteBut you haven’t answered my question Ilona. If someone has failed their vetting because of, for example, three accusations of sexual assault, should that person remain in the force? My understanding is that currently they would still be on the force because the police chiefs do not have the power to sack them. I might have it wrong.
DeleteI can't comment on specific cases, because I have no knowledge of how the system works. I gave a generic reply which covers any job in any profession.
DeleteI'm sure that Rayner's new employment legislation will make this idea of Starmer's soooo much easier to implement......?
