Checking out some news in my area.
Scunthorpe General Hospital to Become One of UK's Most Environmentally Sustainable NHS Sites with New Energy Center.
The £27 million project will see the demolition of existing structures to make way for a state-of-the-art facility housing an electric-powered boiler system.
The two-story energy center will not only house advanced electric boilers but also provide staff office accommodation and a workshop area.
This investment solidifies Scunthorpe General Hospital's position as a leader in environmentally responsible healthcare within the UK.
All in the pursuit of net zero. Never mind that people are waiting a year or more for treatment. Never mind that they are going to shut down two blast furnaces at the steelworks, creating more despair for people when they lose their jobs, therefore affecting their mental stability. Never mind that there isn't any actual money available for this project, all they will do is shuffle their figures around and add to the already debt mountain.
Scunthorpe is dying as with most British towns and cities. Green taxes, stealing from the poor working class to prop up the flawed and quite frankly bonkers race to become the first to reach net zero. It will not create utopia. Imagine standing on a podium to receive the award in 2050. And lying all around are the remnants of the once human race, who have all but given up on any form of a decent life.
Their plan is to batter us into submission. Don't think we can vote our way out of this. Our battles should be with those higher up who are pulling the strings. The puppets dance to their command. It's for your own good. No it bloody well isn't. Their hairbrained plans are always for their own good, to line their own pockets. The richest have always been in it for themselves. They don't give a flying fuck for those who are struggling at the bottom.
Rise up people. There is hope. You start by looking after your own health. Start by getting rid of your debt. Start by only spending cash at every opportunity. These are only small steps but they are the start of a one thousand mile journey.
Glad I got that off my chest. Today is a new day. Make it the best you can.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
The steelworks fiasco makes me furious. Does the government really think that setting the emissions target so low that the Chinese owners shut down production here and move operations to China makes sense? Network Rail will still need to buy their tracks from this company. The rails will be made with no regard to the emissions produced and then will have to be shipped half way across the world to get here! I understand that the Chinese company have offered jobs to workers willing to relocate, but who would want to do that?
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong. I have always been a fan of green technology, but a lot of it is smoke and mirrors greenwashing. Buy your solar panels and save money (good idea), but the panels have a limited life span and are made from raw materials from China. Want to save more money by having battery backup? Great idea. You can be like the smug woman I saw in a recent newspaper report who was posing infront of her nice big TESLA battery. Errrrr.......no thank you!
People like me are told we are causing pollution by using log-burners and driving diesel vehicles, usually by rich people who hop on a private jet at the drop of a hat and own multiple high performance vehicles. I have never flown and myself and my husband share a car, so I will keep my log-burner and not invest in an inefficient heat pump.
We should be looking at ways to live more lightly (I try to live as simply as possible myself) but some joined-up thinking would be welcome.
Sorry for the rant!
Some common sense rants I will publish. Other bullshit rants I will not publish.

What’s wrong with net zero?
ReplyDeleteWe’ve been lucky to live our lives relatively
comfortable.
What about our grandchildren ?
Anti climate changers , anti net zero people like yourself have been brainwashed by mining companies.
What’s wrong with net zero?
DeleteUnachievable in a five year timescale. While China go ahead and build more coal mines, the West are robbed of our taxes to pay for limited resources. Our clean air doesn't stay over our heads, it disperses throughout the whole world.
We’ve been lucky to live our lives relatively comfortable.
We have been lucky, but now we have to get used to the idea that it will all change.
What about our grandchildren ?
Our grandchildren will not have the same life that we had. They will face many more restrictions in their everyday lives.
Anti climate changers , anti net zero people like yourself have been brainwashed by mining companies.
I am not anti anything. I am pro common sense. Net zero is just one part of of the plan, along with jabbing the whole world because a few people might catch a virus. Along with moving large amounts of people from their country of origin and transplanting them hundreds of miles away. Along with telling kids that they can change gender, which will inevitably alter family demographics for years to come.
It's about control . Never for the good of the people, always for the good of the rich to accumulate more wealth.
If you cannot see what is wrong with Net Zero, then you are wilfully blind to all of the actual evidence around you. Yes, the climate is warming (intermittently) because we are still recovering the Little Ice Age, but it still has a long way to go to reach the balmy times of the Roman Warm Period, long before the AGW cultists started playing with their computers.
DeleteToo many people are willfully blind, until it all comes toppling down around them.
DeleteIn my opinion you never want to put all your eggs in one basket. And you do not want to rely on others (countries) for your needs. What happens when one day others just decide we have no more to sell you. The more that can be produced in your own country the better. Won’t be cheaper, but you will be better off with the money staying in your community and country.
ReplyDeleteI have worked in a healthcare setting where computers were attacked by a virus. Put the hospital at a stand still. We reverted back to the “old” ways of manually doing things. The younger staff were at a totally loss. New nurses had no idea how to paper chart and figure out dosages for medication. The older staff was really counted on in this crisis. What will my grandchildren do when banking apps don’t work? When they can’t swipe their cards for whatever?? All I can do is try and teach them some manual common sense ways to do things. How to think outside of the box they will be taught to fit into. I mean I read where kids are graduating not being able to spell and read!!
Rant over!!!! Now time to do something productive like starting some garden seeds.
