Good morning. It is Wednesday and bin emptying day. The cardboard and plastics bin has already been done, the garden waste will be done later.
Here is part three of the day out on Easter Sunday. After my visit to Bransby Horses there was still some time left, no need to rush home. I mentioned Torksey and the fact that it was possible to walk there along the canal. Better idea, drive there, park and have a look around. This is Torksey Lock.
There are plenty of permanent, and visitor moorings here. Someone with a sense of humour has decorated one of the lock gates with teapots. I imagine they must be fastened on. Here is a short video from Bennies Britain of the lock. The teapots are on top of the walls surrounding the lock.
West Burton Power Station can be seen from this point.
I walked into Torksey Village. It's sad to see that the Hume Arms has fallen into disrepair.
With a bit of digging, here is a bit more information.
A former village pub that closed in 2016 is to go under the hammer at auction with a guide price of £450,000. The Hume Arms, in Main Street, Torksey, is to be auctioned by Brown & Co in an online sale at 3pm on April 26. Which year that is, I don't know. The 6,000 sq ft property is set in 1.47 acres and comes with planning permission to convert it into a six bedroomed house.

How it used to be.
Moving on, I walked past the church. It is surrounded by trees so not good for a photograph. The door was locked so no entry. I came across where a railway bridge used to cross the road. No longer there. I explored a bit more and found that the viaduct has been turned into a walk/cycle track across the river. No time to go further so once across I turned round and came back.
My blog is turning out to be a useful source for reference. I put Torksey in the search facility and found these additional photo's from 14 years ago. I passed by this point on a long walk, 119 miles as I recall, on the other side of the river. I reported that the viaduct was blocked off. Today I was able to walk over it as the old railway line has been restored as a cycle and walking track.
Here is the link to the blog post from 2011. Day six of the long walk.
That was a great day. You definitely made sure to take advantage of a nice day. I have been keeping up with old rectory revamp on instagram. They are working hard to bring it back. Thanks again for taking us along and updating places as they change with time. Have a great day😊
