Dogs, birds, and food.

Good evening. It was doggy heaven at the Park on Sunday. Paws in the Park is an annual event. It's a bit like a mini Crufts only it's outdoors. There are competitions, agility tests, search and rescue demonstrations, and plenty of doggy related stalls selling just about everything for our canine friends.

Look what I saw when I opened the curtains to the back window overlooking the garden. I never knew that ducks rest on top of a six foot hedge. I always trim it so it doesn't grow any higher. It makes a nice landing platform for them. I wonder if they sit up there to keep out of the way of the cats.
I took this photo through my front window this afternoon. My friend Barry up the road has one of those massive feather duster bushes in his front garden. He doesn't like it so I always take my secateurs and remove a dozen or so of the dusters before he chops it down. Then I 'plant' them in my own hedges in the front garden. The birds come down and gather the fluffy feathers for their nest building. I leave them there until they are all plucked to bits.

I am craving omelettes at the moment. This one has a cheese and onion roll cut into four pieces, and a handful of butter beans. I beat one egg in a bowl and add a splash of milk, with seasonings and spices. Transfer everything into a small pan, and finish it off under the grill. It was blooming deeeelishus. I like the way you can put anything into an omelette. Another one I made after this had steamed vegetables in it, left over from the day before. Quite a substantial meal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
It's been very windy today. Coffee Morning was a hoot. I did a biggish shop at Aldi this afternoon. Boring but it had to be done.

I'm not sure what I will be doing over the Bank Holiday weekend. Possibly stay here if the weather is cold and miserable. Everywhere is bound to be busy, there are lots of events on. The roads will be busy with extra traffic. Not much fun sitting in a traffic jam.

Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

    1. Normally I can't be bothered faffing about with an egg and just break it into a pan with a smidgen of oil to stop it sticking. A few seconds later it is done and can be added to almost anything to make a substantial meal. Omelettes take a bit more effort and makes extra washing up, but there are many more tasty dishes that can be made with a beaten egg.

  2. Our local humane society holds a Paws in the Park each year as a fundraiser. They use a park where dogs are not permitted on a regular basis, so the event is a one off each year. There's a 5k walk you and your pup can register for. We go each year and a good time is had by all.

I loved omelets until I developed an allergy to eggs. I miss them so much.

    1. I didn't know it was a national event. Sounds a bit like Stand in the Park, dogs welcome. This was a weekly event, started five years ago. I wonder if it is still going.

  3. Looks like a fun outing Ilona! Those are some beautiful pictures of your feathery friends. While I am not a fan of omelets, that definitely seems like a filling meal. Perfect before a day out!

    1. When I think of how I used to dash out of the house in the morning after just a mug of coffee. Now I want something substantial inside me to keep me going until mid afternoon.

  5. Look at all the things going on. Lots of happy dogs. The ducks enjoying their landing pad. Great idea helping the birds make their homes. And delicious meals. Lots to do to stay busy. We will be celebrating the holiday today with family. Kids and grandchildren will be here this afternoon. We are going to have nice weather this weekend . Looking forward to using my outside clothes line instead of hanging things on racks inside the house. Enjoy your day mother!
