Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy

Summer is here. I set off just before 3pm yesterday on an extended walk. My normal five miles turned into eight. Spraying the crops.
The hedgerows are gloriously white.
The grass verges are full of greenery, covering up the fast food wrappings and empty cans tossed out of car windows.

Time to take a layer off, it's hot.
Which is the best format for this idyllic scene? Portrait or landscape?

Always a pleasure to walk back along this route, whatever the weather.
I made a stop at a friends house in the next village. We sat outside on her new cast iron and wooden patio furniture and drank orange juice. She told me the story behind the gorgeous chairs and small table. She was in a garden centre with her family, having a browse. Her garden is lovely, she enjoys buying new plants for it. It was a lightening decision as she sat on one of the chairs on the display. I'll buy this, she said, her daughter was surprised. It was delivered two days later, and fits perfectly in the setting she visualised it in. It is a refurbished masterpiece made by a local craftsman. It will last for years.

I landed back home at 7.30pm so it was a hasty microwaved portion of the stew I made the day before. I slept well last night.

I think today will be a garden day. Tidying needs to be done. Thanks for popping in, I hope your weekend is going well and you are able to spend time outdoors. Don't forget, Tuesday is check in day for the International Walking Group. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

  3. I wouldn't have dared go near anywhere they are spraying because of my asthma.

    What a lovely walk though, and the May blossom is so beautiful this time of year.

    1. The machine was quite a distance away, I zoomed in on it, but I take your point. I don't like going anywhere near spraying and I don't have asthma.

  4. Beautiful photos. It must have been a lovely walk. I used to live somewhere where I could walk for miles in nature and never see anyone. Really miss those times, especially with the lockdowns. Your friend's patio furniture sounds nice. It is lovely when a plan comes together.

    1. I wish I had taken a photo of her patio set now. The wood was treated with eight layers of yacht varnish and stainless steel bolts were used to fasten it together. You wouldn't get that quality in a box from China.

    1. It's nice to spruce things up. Enjoy your walk. I am taking Billy out, that will be enough for me.

  6. Landscape (horizontal). When I saw the first picture, I was sure it was IT, but when I saw the horizontal, I liked the way it was braced by the trees.

    1. I am still in two minds, I suppose it's down to personal preference. Like do you zoom in or not.

  7. Nice walk with trees and river and visiting a friend. I am glad she found a piece of furniture she liked to use on her porch. It is warm here in Oregon. Low 80s and Tues-Wed is 91 degrees. We just got back from being at church then ate out at Trapalas , a Mexican restaurant. A favorite place to eat. Phil and I split the meal as it is alot of delicious meat and veggies. Still bring leftovers home as well. Enough for two lunches.
    Memorial Day weekend so Phil and I are going to cemetery where parents and relatives are buried tomorrow. He has the day off from work. Enjoy the rest of your week!! :-}
