The happy camper returns.

Hello. I see it's been busy on the blog while I've been away. Thanks for your comments and emails. I'll get round to catching up over the next few days. So where have I been? Time to go camping. I had the field to myself,

I've had three days of walking in the North Yorkshire Moors. I was looking forward to  some hills, it's very flat round here, and boy did I get some. I was based at a farm in Goathland, that's Heartbeat country, also know as Aidensfield, for those who have never heard of it. My little legs have climbed hundreds of steps, as well as long uphill slogging on tarmac. I doubt that I have done a lot of miles, as the ups and downs meant I had to stop and catch my breath every few minutes. I ain't no spring chicken.
It was fab. I was lucky with the weather. A little bit of rain on the Monday evening as I was returning to camp, dry and mostly sunny, the other two days.
Lots of photo's and videos to sort out, steam trains and sheep, and fabulous Yorkshire scenery.  I'll get onto that job tomorrow. Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. I am really pleased you managed to get away and the weather has been good. I used to have a Ford Cortina Mk 1 estate. I still remember the registration after about 45 years (eek!). The back seat was a bench and the back of it was metal. It folded forward to join the rest of the floor behind. The whole thing was long enough to sleep on full length. I lived in it when I was homeless for a while. I put a mattress in the back. I wouldn't mind it now for going away for a few days.

    1. Hey, same as me. I like Fords. I had a yellow Cortina estate. I loved it.

    2. What a coincidence. Mine was white. I have had my current car for over 20 years now. I absolutely love it, but it's a coupe and no use at all for sleeping in. I have just looked up Ford Cortina Mk 1 Estates on EBay out of interest and one was sold in February for £2165.00. It's in a dreadful state, virtually rusted out, no headlights, etc. I suppose they must be a collectors item now. It will cost the new owner an absolute fortune to restore.

    3. I remember the rust problem. The wheel arches were particularly susceptible. Having to get the body tarted up, holes filled, rubbed down and touch up sprays, to get it through the MOT. Thank goodness we don't have that problem now.

    2. We had three Cortinas - a Mark 1 saloon and two Mark 2 estates. They were great and the Mark 1 was so comfortable.

    1. It is nice to know you can be independent when you have your own private facilities.
