Failed

Hello. A big fail today. Tried to copy Cassie's video, made a right pigs ear out of it, mainly because I didn't have the right materials. Cut a piece of cardboard, cover it with glue, stick on various bits and bobs, add more glue.

Cover in foil, press down with fingers, and paint.
Nope, doesn't look anything like hers.

What went wrong? Put too much topping on the pizza. Used PVA glue, maybe this is the wrong sort. Beads started poking through the foil, so I removed them. Try again with fresh piece of foil. Air bubbles trapped underneath, smooth it from the centre working out towards the edges. Wrong kind of paint. No wire wool so try other abrasives, didn't work. Need more practice.

Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon. Toodle pip

  1. I think it looks pretty cool without foil.

  2. I wonder if your foil was too thin. I didn't even know that you can buy different thickness of foil until I bought a really strong one by mistake. I will give it a try and see what i can come up with. I don't have much black paint but could try it with red. Glad that you mentioned the beads poking through thoush. I hadn't thought of that.

    1. Cherie, I think the thicker foil is for using when roasting and the thinner foil is for wrapping food to put in the 'fridge or packed lunches etc. I could be wrong, but that's what I use the different thicknesses for.

  6. I'm surprised you consider that a fail. With any artwork (in my opinion) there can be no such thing as a 'fail' for each piece is individual and unique.
The only reason to consider it a 'fail' is if you were trying to recreate something identical to what someone else has made and why would you want to do that ? all of your artwork is unique and unusual, so why try to imitate someone else's work ? You did not fail, you just did it your way.

  8. did you rub it with steel wool, after the foil was applied? watched her video, and it looks like she did. Thought that might make the difference?

    1. Hi. I didn't have any steel wool, might have worked if I did.
