The best free show on earth

And a very good morning to you my lovely readers. I'm full of the joys of summer. Were you up early enough to see the beautiful sunrise this morning? Isn't it just the best free show on earth? I went to bed early and got up early. Made a coffee, and watched it rise behind the trees at the bottom of my garden. Not my trees, the silver birches are in the garden behind mine. A panoramic view from my upstairs window.

Stunning, love the whispy reds. It's looking like another blue sky day today. Yesterday I started my walks again, the leg is better, then another afternoon in the summer house. Could be the same pattern for today. Best make the most of the nice weather.

I hope you have a lovely Sunday, with your mum, your kids and grandkids if you have any. My mum would have been 99, sadly she died 35 years ago. Love you mum.

Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

    1. Nope. A point and shoot small compact camera. Fujifilm Finepix, 10 megapixels. I edit them with a basic Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

  3. The people behind all the Mothers Day hype tend to forget that many of us haven't got a mother any more. I went into my local Tesco's Extra store yesterday and I have never seen so many flowers, bouquets & pot plants... they were everywhere. I wondered if they would all sell as a smallish bouquet was £15 eek! I thought of my Mum whom I lost in 2001, felt a bit sad and then remembered that she would always look forward to my Mothers day gift to her .....no not flowers but a couple of bottles of Guinness! Twas her favourite treat & tipple!
Lovely sunrise Ilona ...sorry I missed it but I was still in bed. Rae x

  5. Beautiful photos Ilona.Silver birches are so magical.I walk though lots each day-such lovely bark.I forgot to alter my clock ''march on'' my mum used to say.She passed on at 56 .I do miss her-she was my best friend.I still talk to her and occasionally I smell her in the house.I also for the last year keep finding hearts(I think from mum).My lovely dogs have asked me to have a book from them -Bhagavad Gita they know I'd like that.
Happy Mothers Day whatever form it takes x

  7. What a beautiful sunrise. I wasn't up that early and when I did get up I couldn't figure out if my clock had changed its self or not! :)

  8. Lovely photographs, I too watched the sunrise. What a very strange coincidence, my mum also died 39 years ago and she too would have been 99 this year. I still miss her, especially on this day. The media and shops blast us with Mothers Day gift and card ideas, but it can be quite sad for those who have lost their mother and are not lucky enough to be one. For those who have both a mother and children, remember how lucky you are. Jean.

  11. Here in the U.S., we don't celebrate Mother's Day until May, but your posts is a great reminder that the family and the breathtaking beauty of nature are what we really should focus on. Thanks again!

  12. Lovely pictures of your view and your Mum Ilona. My Mum died 18 years ago, I miss her every day and think about her all the time. I agree with Rae, it has all become a big commercial hype now, like everything else the big companies can turn into a money maker.

  13. Ilona, I LOVE your sunrise photos. They are truly stunning. Your mom was beautiful. (My own mom passed away 40 years ago yesterday - Mar. 25th). Our mother's day is in May, here in Canada.

  16. Love the photo of your mom. Most of us in this age bracket have lost theirs as well. She was very pretty. She was German, as was mine, do you mind telling us what was her name?

  18. What a lovely photo of your mum. I love her dark hair. Sadly my mum died when I was three years old, she was only 28. I am now 66 but I still think of her a lot. My older sister remembers her just about and my younger sister was just a year old when she died. We had a very disrupted early childhood and were in care for a while but finally were long term fostered by a wonderful family and in fact their son was like a real blood brother to us. I think of all my "mums" on this day, my blood mother, my foster mum and my wonderful mother-in-law. My two "boys" remembered me today and I couldn't have asked for more. So pleased your leg is on the mend. Regards Sue H.

  24. What lovely photos, really enjoyed them.
    And your mum looks beautiful.

Just as a thought-if your leg ( or anyone elses leg!) becomes very hot, discoloured, swollen and painful to touch, then a trip to Accident and Emergency might be in order as it could be a deep vein thrombosis which can commonly occur in the calf muscle.
Not trying to be a scaremonger but it is just as well to be aware of these things
Glad your leg is getting better

  25. The sunrise is lovely and thanks for sharing it with your readers. I was out doing a bit of photography when I got back from walking. A raindrop earlier was still on a Chinese lantern lantern and so I photographed it and a few other flowers as the rain started pouring....good time to be home. I hope to share it on my blog soon. Photo of your mum is pretty. My mum died nearly three years ago this July. I buy flowers that she'd like, as did my daughter the other day. Miss her but I know she's at peace and our memories still hold her close.

  26. Beautiful sunrise! I usually don't care for pictures because they really don't show the true colors, but yours must have been stunning!
Your Mother must have been young when she passed. She's very beautiful!

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to write such a long reply when I asked about motorway driving. This has helped me a lot. Kristel
