International Walking Group check in.

Good morning. We awake to a sunny start to the day. It has rained overnight so any walk outside the village along paths and fields is going to be muddy. Since being back from holiday I haven't done much walking. Oooops, guilty of slacking. As a consequence I am a little short of the 750 miles required at the nine month mark. Must try harder.

So how have you all been doing? Sometimes we bob along on the crest of a wave, then life happens and we juggle our available time to fit in other activities. As winter approaches the arty crafty hobby will be resurrected, the weather will be more challenging, and the pull of staying indoors will be more appealing. I will have to give myself a kick up the arse and force myself to go outdoors when I don't feel in the mood to move.

Just looked at my calendar, 739 total miles, not very good at all. Three months left to get to the finishing line. I promise I will get there.

Let's hear it from you. Confessions and celebrations, the highs and the lows.

From the archives. Ready for mud.

Happy weekend everybody. Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Mr Darcy here, I hear you ilona about wanting to do more but when it's cold I too am guilty of dragging my feet. I need to work on a way of keeping myself more physically active and watching my sweet tooth too. Your a very good motivator. πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŠ‍♂️🏊‍♀️🚡‍♂️🚴‍♀️🀸‍♂️⛹️‍♀️🀽‍♀️🏌️‍♂️🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️

  3. Hello Ilona,
No more walking for me further than to the corner of the street to put the wheelie bin outside.
But cycling is a great alternative and I did, a lot, about 1560 kilometres since March.
With the colder and wetter weather coming in I am limiting my cycling activities as I don't want to fall into another bike accident again!
I still enjoy following you on your walking and other activities and postings!
    Cheers,

    Jeanneke.

    1. Hello Jeanneke. Your body is moving that's the main thing. As long as you keep doing it, you will feel the benefits.

  4. I have been consistently busy, but still lots of walking (even though we have been absolutely hammered by our overabundance of rain) happening - don't mind raincoat and umbrella at all ! Very happy with progress, total so far is 1559 klms, roughly equivalent to 968 miles (I think), I don't really have a goal, just going to see where the year total ends and work on bettering that next year. It is very enjoyable, and it is ME time :)

    1. Hello Joy. You are braver than me going out in the rain. I can feel your confidence oozing from your words. ME time is very important.

  5. We're finally over our 90+ F degree (32+ C) days, and possibly wildfire smoke, so I can walk pretty much any time instead of early morning or late evening. I'm at 1,204 miles for the year.

    1. Hello Sheila. It is interesting reading what the weather is doing in other parts of the world. I long for spring when the long dark nights are gone. Well done on the miles.

  6. Hi Ilona! I did 28 miles this month, for a year to date total of 390. The heat is finally leaving us in the desert so I expect to take two walks a day soon. Best wishes to you and all the others in the group! Hilogene in Az.

    1. Hello Hilly. You are talking about heat and I am sitting here in my layers. I am pleased to see that you haven't given up on the challenge. Onward and upward.

  7. My total miles walked so far is 684. September was not my best month for walking, and I have lots of catching up to do. Unlike Ilona's winter weather challenges, here in South Florida it's the opposite. The weather will be more appealing, and the pull of staying indoors will be absent!

    1. Hello Leslie. Your miles are very good. I hope the flooding over there is not too worrying for you. The weather is never just right for walking wherever we are in the world. We just have to get on with it.

  8. I didn´t do well at the beginning of the month, so I had to catch up in the last few days. The weather was lovely, so with a walk at 10.30 pm I managed to get the last miles to get to 750!

  9. Despite a couple of out of town trips, I managed to log in 81 miles for September. That brings my yearly total to 760. The weather has turned cooler so I am hopeful for many days of walking. Hope you have a great day.
