Art from Germany

There is a new exhibition at the 20 21 Arts Centre. I went along on Saturday to meet the people who brought it here. It's a collection from ten different artists who live in and around Luneburg in Germany. It is an exchange visit, Scunthorpe is twinned with Luneburg. My mother often told me about the holidays she had at Luneburg Heath.
The curator told us about the artists who had contributed to this exhibition. Some of the exhibits were not particularly appealing to me, but a few of them I found interesting.

A collage of pictures, with additional painting.

A lot of planning and painting in this geometric design.

This I think are stacks of painted cardboard discs. The construction is interesting to me.

Collages of mixed up faces and bodies. Weird but fascinating.

This is what happens when you carry on smoking. A colourful ceramic piece.

I had a lovely chat with another visitor. He paints pictures and had his work in the Open Exhibition. More info about this exhibition is on the 20 21 web site.

Now I must go out. It is sunny and I don't want to stay indoors. Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Hi liona, I must say I can never really understand this type of art although I think the stack of discs is interesting, perhaps I'm behind the times but I prefer to see art I can really understand and appreciate, I can appreciate all of your art though😊 and I always look forward to seeing where you've been wandering off to,love your blog,...maggimay at Chesterfield

    1. Hello maggimay. I have to stand and take a good look at art because it is not always obvious what it is about. Some of it I skip by because it doesn't speak to me. Some of it has secret messages which are hidden and hard to find. I found someone to talk to so we exchanged our ideas.

  2. Strange, the ideas that come into peoples minds. I particularly like the anti smoking one.

    1. I think the more complicated a piece looks the longer you have to study it.

  3. I think some of those pieces are wonderful. I particularly like the fact that in some it is obvious the artist can draw. I find there is too much modern “art” where the “artist” demonstrates no skill.
