My week mapped out

Moving on, that's twenty pages of maps printed out and stuck together in five lots of four. That took a bit of doing, scrolling sideways and positioning precisely on the screen to minimise the overlap. My journey starts under the sideboard by the front window......

And finishes under the table by the back window.

The next bit of high tec kit is a long plastic see through ruler and a yellow highlighter pen. I used these to join up the key places that I will be travelling through, or walking close by to. The yellow line is just a guide.

Now I need to look at the maps more closely and work out the best possible route, keeping close-ish to the line within a mile or two. This I will mark with a different colour. The idea being to take a third marker pen of another colour to mark the actual path as I walk. I will be able to calculate the exact mileage at the end. Now I need to divide the approximate total miles between the number of sleepovers, that will give me an idea of when and where to stop each day.

I suppose I could find a way to do this electronically, but I don't have the time to learn how to do it. I wont be carrying any electronic gizzmo's, besides it's more fun with a map.

  2. Ha ha, I love the way you write! "My journey starts under the sideboard...."

I'd be going the low tech route too. It's comforting to have a proper map to refer to when you're out and about.

  3. What a wonderful thing to do, I wish you well. I also wish I could walk for any length of time still. Do you know how long it might take you altogether?

  4. You will have to see if there is anyone from your readers en route. Someone suggested the Press (dare we talk about them?) or at least local radio.

  11. How brave are you! I do wonder about you telling all and sundry about where you will be though. Do you not worry about psychos?

I hope you have fun but I think that would go without saying. You seem like a fun woman.
