Sucker for peppermints

You don't just have to suck peppermints you know. You can crush them to smitherines with a pestle and mortar and add the minty powder to all manor of puddings. Here I have crushed five sweeties.
Then I sliced a banana into a bowl, added four teaspoonfulls of double cream, (I know not good for me, but a small tub is a one off treat), and the peppermints. Stir it all together and enjoy. It was divine.
You could use any fruit you have, red berries would be nice. Instead of the cream you could use plain yogurt, or evaporated milk. You could experiment with other kinds of sweets and make up your own ideas. No need to buy posh puddings, just add some crushed mints for an extra zing. Yum.

  1. Great idea, especially for my husband who adores minty things. I'm thinking the mixture could be layered with crushed biscuits to make a great dessert and, if you are feeling really flush, some grated chocolate to garnish would go down a treat too :) Elizabeth

Not my cup of coffee but hope you enjoyed it. They are giving out FREE Argos catalogues at the moment, so just pop in to your local store.

    1. Why would you want an Argos catalogue on a frugal board, unless you are using it for starting a fire

  7. Love the idea, My daughter once told me to make a kind of syrup for pancakes she would mix icing sugar and water together. Not sure what this would taste like

  11. Hi Ilona, The good of the bananas and peppermint; one of your 5 or is it 7 a day now and peppermint is good for digestion, would counteract the calories in the cream, but it's not like you have it a lot so I hope you enjoyed your dessert. Rhubarb pie from Tesco for me (reduced if I can) with a bit icecream and a splash of milk. Banana and nutella go well together too. All this talk of puddings is making me hungry. Away for a hot chocolate. Cheers for now, Christy.

    1. Queen of puddings and, bread and butter puddings are good too, with ice cream, or a splash of milk. Cheers, Christy.
