Like a mud bath.

At last, a decent day for a walk. I had a big cooked breakfast. My usual route, but look how muddy it is now. I wasn't going to walk along here because of the mud, but today I needed to be alone in the countryside, far from people. Being in nature recharges my batteries,

I wasn't quite alone for the first ten minutes of my walk, I had a chat with a total stranger. He was a very nice young man who works for the water board, he was checking some equipment. I thought I would be a bit cheeky and ask him if I could climb the steps inside the water tower, so I could take some photo's. He said no, health and safety and all that. I knew he couldn't let me do that, but worth an ask. A chance meeting like that makes a walk a bit more interesting.

When I got off this muddy path and onto the road I saw a familiar vehicle coming towards me. Stan in his mobile library was on his way to a nearby village. Frantic waving from both of us as I stepped onto the grass verge, The road is quite narrow there.

Had to take a break while writing this, now I've lost the thread. My bestie friend Carol rang for a natter. She has gone back to volunteering at the charity shop three days a week, because she hasn't much else to do. Good to have a catch up with her, and swap family news.

I'm sure there was something else to add here, but it's gone from my head. Best wrap it up then. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona

  1. Oh yes, nothing like peace and solitude in the countryside to recharge the batteries.

  2. I walk on a treadmill when weather doesn't permit walking outside. It certainly isn't as enjoyable but better than nothing. Tomorrow is suppose to be nice but colder here. I look forward to your post everyday. Thank you so much. It's like having a pen pal. Remember those?

    1. I had a cross trainer for a while, but it wasn't enjoyable so I sold it.

  3. That's a lot of mud, I hope you had waterproof boots on. I recharge my batteries by walking along the beaches here.

    1. My best boots are good, no leaks. I long for a beach walk.

  4. What a lotta mud. Even with high wellies it would be hard to go for a walk there!
My friend took her big Collie for a walk today, one hour walk and almost two hours getting there, parking and doing a big clean up of the dog, her own shoes and the car afterwards!

    1. I have wellies, but I wouldn't go for a five mile walk in them. Sweaty sore feet with blisters would be the outcome.

  5. That mud is just like everywhere round here and because of the sugar beet harvest the back roads are almost the same!

  6. I find that playing my Ukulele takes me away from everything. Try one Ilona they are really cheap and you could do it.

  7. I wear a most unflattering pair of waterproof trousers when it's like this and have asked for gaiters for Christmas. I like to walk, but be wearing suitable stuff to match the conditions. Arilx

  8. I had been wondering about the yellow stickers....if they were even still available. I have been stewing and broth-ing every scrap of food that comes into my house LOL veggie trimmings=veggie broth, chicken carcass=broth, and fruit juices go into smoothies or whatever I can use them in.
I will not waste, it upsets me to think about shortages and how people may have to go without.
