Ready for next year.

The calendar I bought last year cost £1. I think this year they will be more than that. I am a bit choosy where calendars are concerned, I like a big enough space to write on. Don't need pictures. It sits on my desk so I remember to fill it in daily, and can refer to it when I am on the phone.

The last time I went to Home Bargains I forgot to buy one, and I haven't seen them in Aldi. As I don't go to any other shops I might not be able to get one in time for the new year. And I must have one so I can record my walking miles.

I could make one, and so I did. I don't have a printer so make it by hand. Twelve pages of thin card, 4cm squares, fill in the months and the days of the week on each page. Add the dates. Perfect, exactly what I need, and it cost me nothing.

It's a lousy day today. Getting dark at 3pm, and raining. Cats are both inside. Now to get on with something else. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

    1. Good for you. A notebook will do the job just as well. Bought diaries always have a load of information in them that you never need.

  2. Really love this calendar you have made yourself with enough space to write in boxes and it didn't cost you anything x

    1. Easy enough. A ruler and pens. The card I must have had for twenty years. I used to have a printer, the card was to make notices.

  3. Well done Ilona! Moving on, making plans, embracing and enjoying life. I refuse to give in to a life of fear. Here's to happy walks, candid talks and a spirit of hope and JOY.

    1. I have thought about doing this for previous years, but always copped out and taken the easy option of getting one from a shop. As shopping is not on the agenda at the moment it seemed the sensible thing to do.

  5. Well done on organising making a calendar for yourself and very neat it is too! I usually buy a diary well in advance but haven't bought one yet for next year. The weather is indeed lousy today. Non stop rain and dark for most of the day. Hopefully we will have a brighter tomorrow! x

    1. You will probably find cheap calendars and diaries in January and February. That's ok as long as you don't need one on January the 1st.

    1. I don't get any free calendars like I used to. They all seemed to have pictures on, I mostly gave them away.

  8. I do approximately what you have done, except I have a printer and there are plenty of free downloadable calendars. One month per side of the page and it lives in my ledger.

Are you going to do what all the cool kids do and get out all your colored markers or pencils and decorate each page? Or is it going to stay utilitarian?

    1. I used to print them off, when I did have a printer. It will just be used for notes, reminders, and to keep track of what I have done. Probably won't decorate it.

  9. I found one in B&M for £1.. I reckoned it was better spending a pound than taking time out from doing other things to make one!

  10. Love this. I did similar , but just made panels to cover previous dates of an old calendar, which had pictures I liked. Quiet an enjoyable task really, I found :0)

  11. Since you said that it is getting dark at 3 pm now, what is your shortest daylength of the year at your place??
    Just curious...at my home, it will be on 12/21 -- 7:48:28 am 4:30:43 pm = 8 hrs & 42 minutes!!

  12. I like my calendars to have pictures, they hang on my walls, one in the lounge room and one in the kitchen, the kitchen one is where I write appointments and other stuff that needs to be remembered.
