Calling all walkers.

 Hello and Good Morning. Nice to see ya, to see ya nice. How are we all getting on with the walking challenge? Once again it's time to check in. We are six months into the year, half of 1000 is 500 miles. Did you reach that, or are you struggling, or have you a different target. Wherever you're at on your exercise/keep fit journey, now is the time to celebrate that you have reached this point. Well done everyone, let's keep it up and go forward. 

My total is 518 miles. That will do nicely. I am not going to push myself to do do more, the 1000 miles suits me just fine. It means I can divide my time between all the other interests I have. Balance is what I am aiming for. Balance between my body and my mind. Walking is a total body workout. 

I'll dig out a few random pics from the archive. Nature is wonderful, what you might see when out on a walk.

    Well done on reaching your target especially with the hard work involved with demolishing the garage added on.
    I agree with you about getting the right balance for walking and other activities. I find that nothing gets done properly if I concentrate too much on one part of my life. I then panic and lose perspective with everything.
    However we have had some reasonably long walks this month and covered just over 100 miles.
    I'm aiming for 1000 miles which suits me.
    Being outside every day is definitely a must whether it’s gardening, walking or both.

    1. Hello Sue. Definitely better to have a mix of activities. I am heading towards finishing the new art project. Itching to get to the end, in the meantime the garden is growing like crazy and I want to keep on top of that. I might go a walk today. Glad yo hear you are on target at the halfway point.

  2. Hello Ilona and fellow walkers,
    Not a single kilometer walked in June, but did a lot of cycling: 327 kilometers.
    Ater my physician treated my pelvic pains last Friday with a corticosteroid injection in my hip, today I was allowed to start walking again, just a little 3 km walk by the side of the town's canals. I loved it and am so happy to be on my feet again. Slowly going forward.
    I have no walking goal at all this year, every km I can manage will be reason for joy and greatfulness.

    1. Hello Unknown. To keep in line with the 1000 mile challenge you could set your target to 84 a month. It doesn't matter when you start.

  4. Good morning Ilona and fellow walkers! My distance so far for this year is 212m, 53m for June. It´s creeping up but health issues aren´t helping, which is why I don´t really have a target.

  6. It's been a rugged month--health issues (spouse) and heat. Didn't walk at all yesterday, which is unusual. The temperatures have been between 100 F (38 C) and 105 (41 C) and even in the morning it's been 80 F at 6:00 am. Unusual for June. Anyway, I walked 109 miles in June for a total of 741 miles.

  9. Hi Ilona and the walking group,
    Weather here in the desert US is grim, very hot even overnight. Lows 90 F…so when I start walking at 5 am it is hot hot hot. Highs during the days were over 115 for about two weeks. That all said I have been doing on average two miles a day. I changed the way I track and it isn’t working well. But I know I did 60 miles this month. I will make an attempt to get real numbers and catch up, but at least you know I am walking and glad that I can!

  10. Hi Ilona and members of the walking group! I did 98 miles again, same as last month. Total of 570 miles. Walking sits in my system now. I don't know if I can do some walking in the UK this year, I would love to, but we"ll see what the future will bring us. Keep on walking Ilona.

  11. Greetings from a foggy damp winters day in south eastern australia! 172 klm for me for June, total of 1187 for half way mark. Aiming for 2000 kilometres total for the year and am very happy with progress. Joy Central Vic Australia

  13. 72 miles walked in June (545 in total). Been too many rainy days for saying it was June. Hopefully do better next month. Onwards and upwards.

  14. Hello Ilona et al!
    I missed the May catch up so I have two months to add. In May I managed 160 miles, and in June 144 - obviously I spent much more time in the garden in June and less time walking the neighbourhood! Anyways, that brings my total for 6 months to 835. Hoping to make my 1500 mile goal by the end of the year.

  15. My June was down a little from last year but I had some out of town commitments which prevented long walks. I am still pleased with 80.25 miles in June for a year to date total of 509.9. I checked and am down just 80 miles from this time next year. We are moving out of the rainy season so I am hopeful for fewer rain cancellations.

  16. I havent done as much as I had hoped.My grand total at this point is only 353 miles.Some days my nerves just get the better of me and I find it difficult to get out of the house.So on days when that happens I get my fresh air by doing things in the garden.xx

  17. Hi Ilona and walking group! For June, my walking total was 73 miles. The total for past 6 months is 408. I'm a bit behind the goal, but feeling very good from all the walking!

  18. Hello Ilona and fellow walkers, oops a bit late this month as have been away for a few days and forgot to take my June mileage with me! Anyhow, 112.5 miles walked last month and a total of just under 550 for the year so far. Just back from a couple of miles toddle after a 4 hour journey so gasping for a cuppa.   19. 173 kilometres or 107 miles, pretty good as I was sick for a week 😀 Total is 763 miles got to be happy with that. Happy Walking everyone. Lisa NSW Australia.
